Why do footballs brightest minds like Fisher?

They appreciate what he did from 1995 through 1998 when a lame duck team in a lame duck stadium from a lame duck city had no real support.

They know that the Titans most successful 5 year period was 1999 to 2003 not 2006 to 2010.

They know Fisher has had ONE All Pro season at the QB position in 16 years.
Tony Dungy had 6 All Pro seasons from the QB position and 4 MVP seasons with a unanimous first round Hall Of Famer. He has 1 SB trophy to show for it.
They know if Fisher had Manning all those years he'd most likely have more than 1 SB trophy.

They know Bill Belichick had a LOSING record of 41-55 before he paired up with a 2 Time All Pro, 1 Time MVP, 1st ballot hall of fame QB.

They know Fisher has never had a QB that will even sniff the Hall of Fame.

They know it takes a ton of luck and variables to win the big game and just because you do doesn't make you a higher level of coach. Ask Brian Billick, he can't get a Head Coaching job. Ask Gruden, he got fired.

Dungy gets more respect than fisher.

However, I think you're point is valid..if I get it correctly. People think Fisher gets the most out of a bunch of no-name players. They also think he's good with problem children, i.e. Haynesworth, PacMan.

    drawing guy--you're a Peyton fanboy?

I'll tell you what smart football fans know:

Fisher has a worse winning percentage than Wade Phillips, and he will win a playoff game once every 3.4 years. Take away MCM in 99, and he wins a playoff game once in every 8.5 years.

It offset some pretty mediocre records but he's to be commended.

True. Which is the reason some feel he's dropped off significantly.

In a run-first offense, the measure of success should be how many All-Pro seasons his RBs have had.

Dungy made the playoffs a couple of years with Trent Dilfer and a rookie QB too.

And developed the technology to steal signals.

Few coaches do. Current HoF QBs right now in the NFL - 3.

Agreed. Staying injury free is tough. But to not win a playoff game for seven years keeps you out of the elite coaching club, IMO.

I think Fisher does some things extremely well. I think he's a top 10 coach. But I do think he's dropped off significantly the last few seasons. His approach may be getting stale. He doesn't seem to adjust his scheme during games. I think it's fair to wonder if it's time to look in another direction.

Your right on and yes most don't get the situation. If fish leaves for ________,and wins a superbowl or 2 they still won't understand why it happened. But at least it's funny to read the internet smart guys informative posts.

That's just picking and chosing stats. It's like saying if Bill Cowher doesn't win the Superbowl, he's just another Fisher.

Three guys from that Super Bowl team sure seemed REALLY happy to get away from Fisher. And I gotta wonder if VY had been able to keep his job if he had thrown as badly as KFC did.
