Bradshaw doesn't really compare to Eddie George in any way.

Bradshaw is similar to CJ, except not quite as fast and not quite as good at making guys miss.

I really don't see how Deuce thinks Bradshaw could bring anything to the Titans offense that CJ doesn't already bring.

I don't think that he was saying that Bradshaw brought anything that CJ didn't, he was referring to running style. What I saw today was more of a slashing style running from Bradshaw. I understand that he is much smaller than Eddie, but I think their styles are similar (at least to Eddie's style during his younger years), which is what I think was being referred to in the earlier Deuce post (Fisher is more comfortable with this style of runner, not a home run hitter like CJ). That is all I am saying.

I'm just being objective man. Yeah, we won, and I was as happy as any person on this planet when we did. But the fact remains, I saw gaps in our game that other coaches definitely see too. I'm not b*tching, I'm just pointing out what I think is the case. We didn't impose our will as you ridiculously put it. CJ was getting bottled up quite a bit and we looked scared to call a pass play. Taking a knee with 30 seconds left doesn't show that we had a game plan. Thats ludicrous. It shows that we were afraid to air it out.

If not for Giants mistakes this game could have been very different. Their fans are undoubtedly complaining that their team lost the game, ours didn't win it, and thats not far from accurate. Our offense needs more balance to be successful. CJ is very effing good, but can't do everything. And I think Vince is capable of handling a much larger workload then he's been given. He's had about 45 pass attempts this season over three games. Many much more successful offenses then ours pass the ball nearly that many times every week. We simply cannot continue handing CJ the rock 30 times a game and letting linebackers tee off on him.

I hope you guys are enjoying watching CJ now, because he's gonna be out of the league in 2 yrs. Fisher is going to run him into the ground, and once he gets his payday this year, he won't take this beating any longer.

I agree with idea of getting CJ out into the open more. Splitting him out wide and throwing him a bubble screen would get him in 1 on 1 situations where he can make people look stupid. Even have him line up as a WR and come around for the end around, could fake the hand off and VY will have the entire opposite side of the field to run to or find someone open downfield with no pressure on him. Every team is game planning to stop him, so Dinger and Fisher are going to have to get more creative. The weapons we have should be an offensive coorinator's dream, time to stop being so conservative. I also like the idea of spelling CJ early in the game with Ringer. It's a long season and we have to keep CJ fresh for as long as possible. With all that being said, real happy with the way we played I'm just looking at the big picture and for ways to better our chances to end the year in Dallas. Only one more game without McGrath is exciting too.

The Giants certainly did lose that game. In those kind of games we would be lucky to win 2 of 10 games. The safety on the chop block really turned the game. We get two points and then the ball back with good field position.

It does concern me how Fisher is using CJ just like he used George. I'll cut him some slack because this was the kind of game we really wanted to win but then again aren't they all going to be this way?

For one thing the Titans don't need to run CJ 20 times in the first half to prove to the defense they are going to run CJ. A play action pass on the first play from scrimmage could have been effective. CJ is always a threat the defense has to take into consideration. I also agree that we could get Ringer a few carries in the first half to take some load of CJ and keep him fresh for the 4th qt. It's not like Ringer can't get us 3or 4 yards a carry or even more if they slack off the 8 in the box. I'd go as far to say if Ringer got as many carries as CJ he gets about the same number of yards.

What probably bothers me more than anything is Dinger should have the whole first drive scripted ahead of time working in some playaction, screens and such. This would really help VY getting ready for those plays ahead of time as well as getting the Titans on the board early. If I remember right there was a 3rd down and 5 or so early on where we just slammed CJ up the middle and then we kick the FG. That is obviously playing scared IMO and if they don't have more confidence than that in VY he shouldn't be on the field.

In the end the defense held the Giants to a minimal numnber of points to win the game but this defense isn't going to be able to do that every game. Not every team is going to continually shoot themselves in the foot and we have some vulnerability to giving up some points. What that means is the offense has to step up and not just score more points but sustain drives and just bashing CJ into the middle of the line isn't going to get it done.

Last week I asked whether Jeff Fisher's benching of Vince Young during an ugly loss to Pittsburgh contradicted his longtime philosophy.

After reading Jim Wyatt's game story from the Titans' win over the Giants, we now know Fisher had more than sufficient cause for the move and didn't deserve the flak he took for the move.

In fact, I'd have had no problem if Fisher started Kerry Collins against the Steelers knowing what we know now.

    This from Wyatt:

Sources familiar with the situation said Young missed or arrived late for at least two meetings leading up to the Pittsburgh game, including one Friday. While he was excused for one meeting, sources said Young's overall approach lacked the seriousness it needed.

That might explain why Coach Jeff Fisher didn't hesitate to pull Young and replace him with Kerry Collins in the fourth quarter when the Titans trailed the Steelers by only 13 points.

So while Young’s mistake-free role in the romp over the Giants was applause-worthy, the details of this revelation raise a lot of the same old questions about VY.

Vince Young once asked out of a season opener when things didn’t go well. He once missed a team flight to Philadelphia. He once decided he didn’t need to stay at a team hotel when the rules said he did.

Then he is late for or misses meetings getting ready for the complex Pittsburgh defense he hadn't faced before.

In his fifth season, shouldn’t he be well beyond the sort of decisions that allow his bosses to question his preparation?

That’s rhetorical. Of course he should. That he’s not should set off an alarm for everyone connected to the franchise or rooting for it, and a game-manager win in the following week doesn't absolve him.

Last year, Bud Adams called Jeff Fisher to tell him it was time to reinsert Young into the lineup.

Hey, Bud: We know you like to proclaim “VY is my guy” since it rhymes and all. Did you call Young last week to tell him to get to work like an NFL starting quarterback?

I'm not saying bradshaw isn't a slasher. I like him a lot he's a good runner. I'm just not in agreement with you as far as saying bradshaw and goerge are similar. That's like saying deangalo Williams and Snelling are alike.

Jeff is who he is and VY is who he is...
    1. Jeff is never going to give Dinger full reign over the play calling...it's not in his nature.
    2. Jeff is never going to be an offensive minded coach.
    3. If they could run it up the gut every down and win by a 3 point field goal Jeff would be happy.
    4. Jeff believes in Jeff's style of football.
Love him or hate him, you are not going to change him.
    1. VY has many positive attributes, and he has some negative ones. (Most qb's do.)
    2. VY is more of a naturally talented football player/quarterback than a cerebral quarterback or a technique quarterback.
    3. VY CAN throw, he CAN run, he CAN lead, and he CAN win, ... but he's not going to be perfect, and he may never have the most mature attitude in the league.
    4. VY can improve his mechanics...but he can not change his past...and it will always be an issue that his critics revert to when problems arise.
Love him or hate him, you are not going to change him.

The more famous and much wealthier Jeff, Titan Jeff just revealed an interesting stat on another board.

We are 16-1 in games Vince doesn't throw a pick. That means 12-13 in games he does.

That is an amazing stat and indicates maybe this is the best approach. Don't get me wrong i don't like a running play that goes nowhere on 3rd and 3 just like anyone else but we have been winning with this safer style of offense.
