I see it as all one move from the start of the catch to the putting the football on the ground. If he would have paused for a second or showed that the momentum was over with then it's a catch then do whatever you want with the ball. Deuce keeps bringing up the Washington catch for some reason, he had 100% control of it, breaks the plane then throws the ball. There was no doubt he had possession. Johnson didn't complete the catch. Again, I don't like the rule so much but according to the NFL's rule it was incomplete. And former NFL head of officiating and the current one agree, it's a catch. But I'll say this, Calvin Johnson wont let it happen again. But also as Schwartz said, the team did quite a few bad things that caused them to lose, you can't put it all on one play.

The problem with this rule is the refs are picking and choosing when its a td and when its not if they were consistent with it I'd accept the rule
Remember last year on opening weekend Monday night football charges vs raiders they ruled it wasn't a td and it cost the raiders a win and then last year the first time we played the Texas they gave a td to jacoby Jones on the same type of play and that was the go ahead td that cost us the game and then in the super bowl they gave a td to the saints even though he didn't get back up with the ball and then today they go back to saying its not a catch by robbing the lions

Bob Costas pretty much summed up my feelings on the subject perfectly. Under the letter of the law it's a TD but it's a dumb rule. In a little more detail.

    typo?

If you mean not a TD, the rule says if he goes to the ground and loses the ball in the process of going to the ground, it's an incomplete pass. The rule says absolutely nothing about the players momentum having to stop. As soon as he started rolling over and getting up is when it should have been ruled a catch. It doesn't matter if he lost possession after he started getting up.

Oh that's how you think? Did you think like that BEFORE Costas did? Because that's what we've been trying to say the whole time to and you've been arguing.

"We know the rule. " over and over... asking you to simply admit it's a catch, and you couldn't.

Nope. Did you see what Costas said? He said it was the correct call, just a bad rule.

This is just the refs sucking their usual D.

Grow a sack and bend the dumb rules. Everyone in their right mind knows that's a damn touchdown.

It was the same thing when the officials bent the rules to review that field goal where the Browns' kicker Dawson missed a field goal, but it was reviewed and overturned. The Browns beat the Ravens.

That's against the rules, but you do what's right. And that's why they should have stuck it to stupid rules in the Ravens playoff game and reviewed the damn delay while I screamed "delay of ****ing game" over and over again.
