Two straight 7.5 sack seasons with over 30 tackles and 6 pass deflections? I'm pretty sure everyone on this board would take that impact for 1.5 million.(Obviously you'd have to adjust the numbers to reflect that a linebacker, so let's just say 95 tackles, 2 picks and half a sack)

Well I guess if you are wrong, the easiest comeback is to make stuff up.

McNair played 22 games for the Ravens over 2 seasons.

there are alot of good points of view in this thread, on resigning or releasing K-B. He has always been my fave TITAN since either his rookie year or his second. This time a year ago I remember Keith predicting 09' his last season as a TITAN, that was of course pre injury. Ever since it has really began to erk me the way our F.O. conducts alot of business moves. I understand he isn't worth as much as he once was , but loyalty means alot to me. He still isnt on his A- game but I dont see anyone on the LB core, who can compete anywhere close to his level. Maybe I am biased towards him, but he has yet to ever give me a reason to doubt his ability. Hell how many games did he miss pre- this years injury? Couldnt have been more than a handful. I wish they would have given him a fighting CHANCE to come back and compete in training camp.

But I am starting to believe #53 was more open wanting to move his career on elsewhere/ anyway. I am happy that he is playing back in his hometown. I think he has a few more years in his tank. If nothing else he is a leader out there.

I very rarely get a chance to go to games, but last year I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the Christmas game. It wasnt much of a game, but I will be forever grateful that I was able to applaud and show my support for K-B, during the Titans dedication ceremony during a TV timeout.

Typo but still proving my point.

    1. McNair was on the decline. You don't build a team around a declining player.

    2. Bulluck was still on the team and he was, at that time, our best player.

I notice you haven't proved anything yet.

Truth is Gunny, you live overseas and its hard to take you as someone knowledgeable about the subject.

There are people that agree with you. But I think you've read enough here to see other posters that agree with me at least on some level. You hear "cheap" thrown around. You can read what Bulluck and Haynesworth have said about the franchise. Haynesworth made a point that we don't re-sign linemen. Bulluck said he expected the same treatment as McNair,Eddie, etc.

I don't personally know any agents. But I live in Nashville. I read about what the players say and I hear discussion on local sports talk. I know from word of mouth what a lot of the fanbase thinks. I watch Free Agents every offseason. Sometimes you hear guys talking about teams they want to play for... what are the reasons? Big Market for more ad revenue, favorite team growing up, good reputation?

I think it would be advantageous to be known as a southern franchise that takes care of and respects its players, making them keystones of the community.

I'd certainly prefer that to the one we are known as in the USA, and that's the one franchise that would lock out it's star player, former NFL MVP, that without question gave his body for the franchise playing through ridiculous amounts of pain. Of course it's not just McNair, he's just the worst example of our reputation regarding how we treat Titan veterans.

Bulluck's most recent comments basically amount to the Titans treated him like crap with no respect, but that's exactly what he expected from this franchise. I don't understand how people applaud that just because Bulluck's best years are behind him we should just dump him without a phone call.

People wonder why CJ started holding out now? Why wouldn't you with this franchise?

Vols are pretty cheap with their players as well, not as cheap as Vandy but still cheap. And as soon as a Vol gets hurt - BAM! their scholarship is gone and it's on to a career involving hairnets and nametags.

Seriously Titans are no different than the other 31 NFL franchises. Emmitt Smith ended up in Arizona, Farve/Cook did the exact same thing to GB but for whatever reason it was not protrayed the same way as McNair/Cook. As for the CAP and the blowup - it happened because Reese/BA decided too keep the group together and try for the SB instead of doing the smart thing and letting some veterans walk.

There have only been isolated instances of Titans letting talent walk and then the guy living up to the contract. Kearse leaving was bad IMO, but no way he was worth the contract Eeglees gave him. Kearse left because he was greedy, same for Fat Albert. Kearse comming off injury would have been worht the contract Titans offered him, memory says it was about half what Eeeglees gave him. Fat Albert was collusional when he signed his contract with Washingtonn. He will be nothing without Washburn, but I am sure his $100m contract is good enough for him.

I really don't understand the gripe with the Titans alone when a contract has too be agreeable to BOTH parites. Titans did not want Bulluck and his crippled knee around so they let him walk, and history has shown that the Titans are almost always right on these things.

We are completely different. No superbowl wins sets us apart from 18 other franchises. Being in Nashville (small market) sets us apart from DC,Dallas,NY,Chicago,Philly,NewEngland, etc.

It wasn't portrayed the same way, because it was VERY different.

I'm curious how Eddie George was treated badly. He was paid top 3 RB money, played like a bottom 3 running back. Wouldn't take a pay cut and then played for Dallas for less money.
