If a team can decide not to finish out a contract and waive a player then why shouldn't the player be able to ask for a new deal if they are outperforming the current one?
I'm tired of these people bashing CJ for wanting more money. If they were CJ I'm sure they would change their tune.

I don't see any options here. If a player is selected 15th, he needs a bigger contract than the guy chosen at 16th. It may not be fair but free agency offsets that. His day will come.

If a clause was written into the contract that he be paid more for leading the league in rushing, then owners would also have a clause in there that he'd have to pay back a portion of his signing bonus if he didn't live up to his draft position. No way players would do that.

I think the better option would be to make rookie contracts shorter so free agency comes sooner. But that would mean smaller signing bonuses.

And why is that, b/c its impossible to live for 550K? B/c last time i checked the average household can live around 45K a year. So to be honest he can kiss our asses. It drives me nuts players asking for more money. I mean damn he got a 7 million signing bonus. YEah yeah I know he had 2k yards. Well guess what!!!! He wouldn't if he wasn't behind TN's offensive line. He needs to realize that, I mean dang Lendale ran for 1200 behind the line, Henry looked like a superstar. So CJ just needs to come and play!!!!

This is what happens when an average college player turns in to a star nationally. He starts thinking he's better than he actually is.

Trade him for McCluster. Watch CJ struggle behind the Chiefs Oline while we keep moving the same without him.

So in your opinion Jamal Charles is better than CJ? Because he didn't struggle behind that line.

    But CJ would? :ha:

Jeez, we need to trade for that guy. Behind our line Charles would put up 3000 yards!

Eh yeah. I'm so used to the Chiefs having a terrible o-line that I didn't even think about Charles' season.

So we'll just trade him for Spiller instead.

Actually, I really don't know why they don't put him on the trading block just to see what happens. This way Chris truly thinks 'wow, I'd better just shut up and go to work' and.. we may get back better than we give.

That's exactly how I've been thinking until now. I think it's about time to start considering offers.

What about trading CJ for Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, and a 1st round pick from the Vikings? :thumb: There's no way the Vikings would allow that, but I'd take that in a heartbeat.

The Vikings wouldn't even give up just AP for CJ, why would you even bring that up? I'd love you get Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne for CJ but it's not happening.

Anyone know how much $ CJ has already made? can he afford a $10,000 fine every day he misses mandatory camp? If thats his plans. I just cant see CJ taking a hit in his pocket like Haynesworth.

nah, i see you write this in every single CJ discussion. Our O-line wasnt that good last year and im not suprised to see that we are ranked 17th this year (didnt read the thread just saw the title). CJ makes plays happen. its not like hes running strait to the hole and theres just an opening. Usually our O line would blow it, he would bounce out and find space... cuz theres bound to be someone providing open space somewhere. i mean, i dont really know what to say. You, a long with a lot of people, seem to be over exaggerating our O lines capabilities IMO. O-line was lacking last year. CJ creates space, and makes plays.
