W/e he can sit out a year, not get paid, go to some other team and realize he only had a great season because we catered to him. It might be a rough year but I honestly think in the end the Titans will be better off without him.

CJ has no one to blame but the NFLPA and other players. Half the people say a contract is a contract, and the others say in the NFL contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Well, here's the rub. PLAYERS want that guaranteed money. They want it because they are scared maybe they'll be a bust, or maybe they'll get hurt, or maybe they'll be in a scheme that doesn't showcase their talent. Bottom line, if you want up front GUARANTEED money, you must sacrifice future earnings potential to get it. Does anyone here think the players would agree to a system where they only get straight salary and incentives if they reach certain escalators? No. They want up front money.

People like CJ need to realize that "Pay Day Advances" come with a very high interest rate.

This is what happens when you become a STAR. You want to draft a good player and turn him into a great player, but when that happens, you have to deal with issues like this.

Trade him for Ray Rice!! Rice's contract is 4 years, $2.8M and he's not crying a bit. CJ's signing bonus is more than twice what Rice will make for his entire contract! Rice will end up being the better player also.

Of course he is outplaying his contract, but when I read that he says he isn't going to play for $550,000, I think Chris is forgetting his signing bonus. That signing bonus was in lieu of a bigger yearly salary.

Can the Titans give him more money? I'm sure depending on the CBA rules, but he wants to be the highest paid RB in the NFL after 2 years. Only way that can happen is to pay him $40-50 Million signing bonus. Now next year, will he complain about having a small yearly salary again?

I am kind of suprised that no one in our FO anticipated this issue towards the end of last years season. I would think that the Team would try to give him a slight raise to make him happy for at least this year until a new cba is in tact and we can give him a new contract! I want him on the field, but he deserves way more than what he is getting.

The Titans simply don't want to pay him more. It's not that they're unable to, it's nothing more than them choosing not to. Good move business wise, but bad choice if you're trying to win games with this current roster. With C.J. this offense is special because of how he and Vince mesh, and how both players speeds play into the calls. There has never been a 1-2 punch like these two guys. I really hope something gets worked out.
