I'll agree with this sentiment when NFL clubs can stop ripping up contracts when a player under-performs, until that happens players should be allowed to get as much as they possible can while they can.

Contracts in the NFL are totally different from standard business contracts. Once people understand that, maybe they'll understand why the players do what they do when they're healthy.
