Chris Johnson decided to sit this out too?...He would have garnered a lot of local respect if he would have shown up to help the community, in spite of his contract squabble with the organization...

I don't really believe they did much helping. They showed up to show good faith, but it would be a surprise to me if they actually got much work done. I saw a video of Fisher wasting some time on a shelf, and others breaking apart some large structure. I like the gesture, but I think they showed up for the politics of it. It looks good when a local pro team shows up to save the day.

^^^ "breaking up a large structure" is more than I've done to help so I think it's great.

^Well that's sad if you're near the issues. And I guess it's better than nothing, but honestly if I'm pulling together resources it's for the cause and not to get publicity. But it has to start somewhere, and pro athletes have a big influence on the community.

Mawae got his whole church to come up from Louisiana, and he's not even on the team. People may consider him a dirty player, but he's shown time and time again that he's got plenty of character.

I know someone who was working next to a few of the players. He told me the players he saw were working hard.

Many of these guys do a ton in the community and get little publicity. I'm not saying all wanted to be there but there's no reason to judge that it was just a publicity stunt.
