Sometimes a nice houseplant is welcomed. A nice one, not a Walgreens special. I know my Mom thinks flowers are a waste because they die, and she really doesn't need anything as far as gifts. Plants are nice because they survive and she can look at it every day. She likes to keep the little card in it also to remind her.

If roses grow in heaven, Lord pick a bunch for me
Place them in my Mother's arms and tell her they're from me,
Tell her that I love and miss her, and when she turns to smile
Place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while,
Because remembering her is easy, I do it everyday
There's an ache within my heart that will never go away...

I sleep like a baby now. Don't try to stay up as long as possible. It's not a good idea. It's not the least bit fun. I was hallucinating and stuff... and in an extremely pissy mood. I just wanted to beat the living hell out of everyone I saw. It was not good.

Sorry this is so late, I've been busy the last few days and am just now seeing this. Maybe it will give you an idea for next year.

Most women love spa services, and they can cost as much or as little as you want to spend, from $25 and up. Mani-pedi is always appreciated.

Does she collect anything? If so, add to her collection.

If she likes jewelry, you could start her a Pandora bracelet and add charm beads yearly.

Take her to brunch or lunch.

If you have a skill, lend it to her -- even if it's helping clean out the garage. You could offer to paint a room, etc. (Today my brother wired my mom's sunporch and hung ceiling fans for her.) You get the idea.

Most of all, moms appreciate spending time with their adult children.

Let us know what you did!

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day and those that are moms, will be moms, and have moms!

    Appreciate everyone's input.

I ended up getting her a Joel Osteen book... I nailed that one... I was walking around David Kidd a night ago and saw a few of his books. She's a huge fan of his and I know she has a couple of his books, but this one looked pretty new, so I snatched it.

Then I was wondering what else I should get... and ended up getting her a new 4 GB iPod Shuffle. Those things are actually pretty cool. It's the smallest iPod ever created, yet it still manages to hold 400 songs... she's always wanted one, and these aren't all that expensive, so I figured I'd get it.
