Anyone who thinks JPP would have been a better pick needs to watch this video. Morgan just comes off the line really quick and can fight through. I think the pros will give him some more strength and he should be really solid. I thought our ends played weak last season, I think we made an improvement for sure with a SOLID fundamentals guy in Morgan.

After watching some footage i can talk about this pick (that 8 min vid of high/low lights is all i really got but anyway)

i am very happy with this pick, and ill list some reasons.

    1) he is a shorter guy; and we are seeing more of them at end. great bull rushers and he's quick; nice burst and first step

    2) he's been getting double teamed in most of the downs i've seen; and he's beaten a lot of them. this kid looks to handle adversity

    3) he's very good at getting backfield quick and making the qb/rb scramble/stutter/freeze for a second. in the nfl that's all it takes to disrupt some things; sack a qb or slow down a ball carrier (ie timing, penetration by other defenders to clean up, etc..)

    4) he already stunts good to DT to beat bigger slower guards quickly (his small size helps too). Jim loves to run stunts, he looks to do some serious damage beside J.Jones (or tony)

    5) he is ready to play.

    6) Washburn is his coach, his future is bright

care to add to that list?

Yea i want to add something. I have seen two different occasions where he states that he loves the way jared allen plays the game. Now im not saying he will be the next #69 (although i wouldnt mind an elite pass rusher) but if he can be half as productive and bring that same crazy/destructive/intense attitude to the Defense he will be worth that pick and more. IMHO of course

I'd like to add onto what both of you all are saying as well.

He's not going to be able to be double teamed in our defensive scheme. When you've got him, J Jones, DT Tony Brown, and Ford coming at you its going to be a headache for QB's and offensive lines.

At first I felt indifferent about this draft but after analyzing our picks I saw that we got great players, who play hard, who have great technique, and who fit our scheme.

I see Williams, Morgan, and Blount (yes Blount, I don't care if he punched a guy, the guy can run the football) making an immediate impact this season. I think Graham and Morgan will come on early and you'll see Blount later in the season. You could also see Rolle occasionally in the nickel packages or if Hope starts to show his age.

I'm excited about this season and the next 2-3 years of Titans football. Pay CJ and manage our talent well and we'll be forces in the AFC for the next few years.

How do you see a trend? There are only a few good DE's in a 4-3 scheme. Harrison and Dumervil are 3-4 linebackers.

Actually if you study it most of the top D-linemen in the league, guys who play with a hand down are 6'5 or so. Look it up and look at the pro bowl players from the last decade.

People have brought Jared Allen's name up in comparison to Morgan but Allen is 6'6 270 3 inches taller than Morgan.

The guys in this draft who most physically resemble Jared allen were Dunlap and Pierre-Paul. Not Derrick Morgan.

FYI in the highlight video it shows Morgan dominating Clemson. Morgan played Clemson again in the ACC championship game and had no sacks.

In fact Morgan had no sacks in his team's 3 biggest games at the end of the year against Georgia, Clemson and Iowa.

Carlos Dunlap had a sack in each of his games against Georgia the last 2 seasons.

I'm not going to crap all over this pick but i'm afraid the Colts got a better pass rusher #31 than we got at #16. I hope not..

Ya know, i was really judging this guy on this film and i watched the bowl game and morgan's performance really got washed out by Brian Bulaga and Adrian Clayborn DE for Iowa. By the way, side note, AC is gonna be a stud. But yea when i watched it again Morgan is a quality player and i take back all the judgement i laid on morgan

i saw that vid too. i mean the thing is. that he has a high motor and good speed. when not getting double teamed he is pretty good against the pass and great at stretching out plays and locking down OTs. You are forgetting that while he may not be 6'6'' but he doesnt have to be. Freeny is 6'1", Kampman is just 6'4", and Trent Cole is the same size as Morgan. And none of their D-line coaches are as good as Wash. Morgan is productive, an anchor, and if he isnt double teamed and he is on the left side there is a good chance he could beat a RT and get good pressure.

And D-line isnt a one man position, we have four guys with a hand in the dirt. Allen has the "Williams Brothers", we have Brown and JJ. they will be causing their fair share of QB rushes. Not to mention how well Hayes and Ford are turning out. Just wait and see i bet he has 10+ sacks
