Our 1st round pick was solid. I am glad the Giants took Pierre-Paul as needed more than a LaBoy type pass rush only DE. Morgan can play the whole game.

I am still disappointed that we didn’t go get Albert in the third round but Williams, a great procession receiver, was a great pick up. My only concern is they keep saying that he isn’t really speedy. That would contradict any return possibilities.

The trade was okay but I felt me got gypped on the Vickerson end of the deal.

Drafting a QB was a surprise. Something must be going on with the 3 we have that we do not know about. Is Collins retiring?
So now we move back to the FA market. Anything worth looking at?

Heh. I didn't notice my own typo. I thought you were saying you had pass moves. If you have puss moves, that's great! I think.....

Haha thank you. Too bad those wouldn't translate to football success

Speed isn't everything in the return game. Shipley (a popular choice on this board) isn't particularly "speedy" either.

I don't like trading Vickerson since it hurts our DL depth and I thought he was a pretty good contributor, albeit streaky. But not a huge loss and it helps clear some payroll I guess.

I'm hoping Collins is cut before long and we spend our remaining money on bringing back Mawae and Bulluck.

Shipley is not going to last in this league..........he is almost 26 fully mature and slow. 4.56 for a slot guy is pedestrian and his cones are ordinary. I was never on his show............he was a great college player but that is where it ends. I dont see him doing much in the show.

There are so many WR in this draft who are better........infact the kid TN drafted from Montana has a better chance than Shipley.............was faster and very quick laterally and that is why he had monster PR numbers..............but even he will be a PS squad guy yr one. I bet Shipley struggles to make it thru cuts.

I for one am stoked about the draft, and I can't be mad about the pick, either. Graham was gone, JPP was gone, Earl Thomas was gone. For a lot of us, that puts it between Morgan, Bryant -- kind of a late consideration, really, and Kyle Wilson.

The one thing I'm optimistic about regarding Morgan: he can be marginal as a sack artist, but if he can command double-teams in the pros, it will help the rest of the line.

I'm excited about Williams - Bongo said compared to Wayne - but I've lately been thinking about Marvin Harrison, minus the hand guns. And good gravy, I believe Curran is going to be awesome.

Mariani should be interesting. Fisher obviously had a lot of love for him. He's been importing Montana players to Tennessee like illegals across the border. So, looking at WR, here's what I think:

    Britt/Washington/Edison
    Gage/Williams/Hawkins/Mariani

Trade or cut Gage in the offseason (not predicting the likelihood of this, just saying) who is due only $1.75M this year, or cut Hawkins, or say Edison slides back (hope not), and you've got room for Mariani to make the team, especially since he plays ST as well. Worse case, the other guys stick one more year and he makes the PS. But I'm thinking he's a late round addition brought in to offer return skills initially and develop as a WR.

As far as Robert Johnson (RoJo) and Myron Rolle go - I'm excited to see the direction the defense takes with guys like this waiting in the wings. Hope has another year at most. Griffin has two years to prove he deserves a new contract, but I've always had a feeling he never really wanted to be here.

Rarely do I laud the Jags..........but people are pounding them in the media.......much like they did to TN when they draft CJ and Hayes...........

I love Jax first four picks...........especially the top pick and the Murray State kid. Both were PODs of mine..............And its clear Jax did the same thing TN did this yr.........they stopped trends drafting. They are totally changing their front to a one gap pentrating 4-3 that makes their backers better because they are so fast.

Consider this about their top pick.............everyone is sleeping on this kid. I know TN had this kid as a potential pick at 16 if all the DE were gone.
................ if someone wishes to continue to label Alualu as a "reach" they need to substantiate with some logic.

Alualu is nearly the exact same size as Gerald McCoy. McCoy ran a 4.96 at the combine, while Tyson Alualu ran a 4.87. That's significantly faster than McCoy and Suh.

Take a look at vertical jumps and the difference is staggering. At the combine there was a 30.5 vertical from McCoy and Suh put up the best vertical jump since 2000 with a 35.5" jump. Alualu finished with a 35" jump.

In school Alualu had better stats than McCoy and played in every game starting with his true freshman year. He showed durability and was also a leader on Cal's defense. He's a great character guy wife a wife and two kids and has never been anything but a pleasure to coach according to everyone around him.

On the field, Alualu was more productive than McCoy and was reveled for his nonstop motor.

I think many pre draft reports had this kid suited to play the 5 technique in a 3-4 but I honestly thought he was the second best DT behind Suh.........Both are completely explosive as you can see from their verticle numbers for DT which are truly elite............it is the truest measure of explosion for a onetechnique...........and Washburn looks for this measurable right away..........Jags got a player............just watch this kid outplay McCoy.........I think McCoy busts truthfully.........nothing about his game was special including his tape.

    Um...

I thought Wilson was the best CB in this draft and the Jets getting him for that D and at that pick is ridiculous. I don't know about Lester Hayes as a comparison considering Hayes was a S coming out and was 6', but I suppose you mean his ball skills. You think Thomas is gonna play SS for the Colts?

What would you have thought if the Titans had taken Hughes?

I'm not sure he isn't a Titans kind of guy. He's a lot like Tulloch. I like him!

We also signed Mico McSwain as an undrafted F.A...He can contribute immediately in the return game. If you are familiar with the SEC you should remember him from his time at Ole Miss. Well he had taken a year off to do with family stuff and then transferred to University of North Alabama. He didn't look like he had lost anything at all. I watched every UNA game last year. He could be a steal.
