Mizzo - Mike Tannenbaum has only been a GM since late 2006. He's stolen Leon Washington and David Harris in the draft. Traded up for Revis & Sanchez. Signed players like LT and maybe Jason Taylor. Traded for Braylon Edwards, Antonio Cromartie, and Santonio Holmes (all 3 good trades for the Jets). He turned a 4-12 team to two 9-7 seasons, including a playoff win. Gave Rex Ryan players to coach. He's one of the best GMs. He's also 37, one of the youngest GMs in the NFL.

Gunny - Yeah, I know he's a rookie. He's a good player, and is the key to the Jets. Even VY never threw 20 INTs in his rookie year. Mark needs to keep the ball under control, luckily for him - he has a great D that can get the ball right back.

xpmar9x - Very good point. I'll be honest, I had no idea he'd only been there since 06.

I doubt we talked with them nor were we consulted

this was a saving face move by Pitts b/c of what happened with Roth and Holmes in the offseason.

That said, we're not going to be trading for a player with off the field issues, especially this soon after Pacman. Actually, no one in the NFL save the Jets (who have made it clear they will take players with off-field issues) would jump this quickly on it. Goodell keeps reminding every team that enough bad conduct among players and he will penalize the team. He hasn't done this yet, but no one wants to be the first. And especially the team that had the player he suspended the longest, since noone's sure how goodell is counting this

Again though, this was a saving face trade and was probably started and made tonight; he wasn't shopped around. They very well may have gone a short list or even gone to the Jets first based off their past of trading for troubled players

that said, adding Holmes to Edwards; having Leon washington, greene and LT (though I dont expect LT to contribute too much); getting cromartie. Jets have to be one of the top favorites now in the AFC

I really think this was a saving face move by Pitt b/c of what happened with Roth and Holmes in the offseason. I feel this trade might have even been started and made today

still, adding Holmes to Edwards; having Leon washington, greene and LT (though I dont expect LT to contribute too much); getting cromartie. Jets have to be one of the top favorites now in the AFC

Well yeah, except I think the 257 yards and 2 TDs against the Colts in the AFC championship game isnt too shabby (I know he threw 1 pick but on that stage against that highly ranked of a pass D in the AFC championship game, I think a pick in the last 2 minutes of the game when it's pretty much out of reach can be excused)

I'd say he's better than average; he's at least pretty good and the receivers just got better

Could be the biggest steal in the past 5 years if he can get his act together and sign an extension.

Trading a 1200 yard receiver for a 5th says to me Pittsburgh know something is going to happen with Holmes.

Either the Steelers know something, or the Jets got the steal of the year...

Dumb trade for the Steelers they lose their #1 wide receiver for almost nothing. I know he gets in trouble but not to a serious extent IMO. But now the Jets finally have a top receiver and it only took a 5th round pick, impressive.
