    You're not getting it...

    He's too slow....

    to...

    CONVERT...

    to CB.

Not "he's too slow to be a CB". He's too slow to CONVERT to a CB.

It's too much of an adjustment for some of the fastest safeties- and you want this guy that STRUGGLES to run under a 4.5- (and please stop acting like he runs 4.43. He ran that good once. Usually his times are 4.5 and 4.45... wasn't his pro-day hand clocked?).

He's not athletic enough. Now if he were some athletic freak like Eric Berry... you might have a point. But he's not. He's too stiff, and wasn't even good enough to stay at CB in college so they moved him to Safety.

The CORNERBACKS you compare him to are GREAT CORNERBACKS.
They can actually cover at the line. They've proven that. They have the hips, footwork, instincts, etc. They con't have to CONVERT to CB- They're already good at it.

    Earl Thomas is NOT.

    Do you get it?

Again- this is why he'll NEVER play CB in the NFL.

Argue with that all you want. You know it's true.

That doesn't make any sense. Either he's fast enough or he isn't. Speed during the conversion process (which is what your sentence refers to) is irrelevant.

I really don't care one way or another whether Thomas can be a CB, but if you are going to argue that he can't (or won't), then you need to at least make sense.

Just say that you don't think he has the instincts or the hips. Don't say meaningless stuff like the sentence I quoted above.

Man this is only gonna get more and more chaotic as we near closer to draft day. I have a feeling we're gonna take a small school guy that no one's ever heard of.

So another flaw in logic? There is some magical 40 time now a guy has to have to convert from S to CB? What is that time? My God man, give it up. You are making less and less sense all the time. These kids don't come into the world with a football position tattooed to their butt with a note from God "tho shall not change positions". The guy plays S because Texas has other good players to play CB and he helps the team by being in the middle of the field. Just because Mac Brown put him there doesn't mean he now is doomed to never play another position or something. The guy isn't jinxed or something. Hell, he might be the best CB in this draft and you are arguing he isn't suitable? Give it a rest....

How you guys don't understand that it isn't common for college safeties to convert to nfl CBs is really blowing my mind right now.

Do you guys even watch football? Seriously?

How is this hard for you to understand?

It takes a special kind of athlete to convert from college safety to nfl corner.

Once again: UP THIS THREAD IN A YEAR. Tell me what position he's playing.

Up it in another year. Tell me what position he's playing.

    rpt...

You guys have no idea how Safety to CB works from college to NFL.
You apparently think that some kid playing the ball can just jump in to the corner position because he ran a DECENT (not even good) 40 time once?

    lmao

I'll help him out, MICHIGAN, MICHIGAN, MICHIGAN!!!

What School did Graham play for again?

I see a lot of double talk with Deuce, probably why his name is Deuce. When you draft at #16 there is no perfect prospect if they were then they probably would have been taken 15 picks earlier.

I personally will be happy with Wilson, Haden or Thomas all three are pretty damn good, but Thomas is the most versatile of the 3.

if he has been trained to play Corner for the last 3 years why does he have to be converted. It has already been proven he has all the physical abilities to play the position, he has done it against elite competition, he is also called the best cover prospect to come out of Texas since Raymond Claiborne and that is really really saying something.

Your confusing him with facts, don't do that, the only fact that matters is that Thomas ain't from MICHIGAN.

He's worked as a corner. He's barely played as one- and you know, that's only because all Texas DBs work at all positions. Mack Brown still didn't trust him to play corner, so why would any coach in the NFL?
If Eric Berry's head coach thought switching to corner (nfl) would be too tough for him, why on earth would anyone think Earl Thomas can do it?

This is as silly as people just assuming Tim Tebow can become a TE or fullback. "Well, he's big enough and fast enough. Duuuhhhhh!!!"

And I know he's not from Michigan. We actually produce good cornerbacks.

You have 2 CB's from Michigan currently in the NFL I would consider good, Leon Hall and Charles Woodson.

    Yep!

    2 more than Texas has.

One even being a future HOF'er.

Hell, Morgan Trent would be a 1st rounder if he graduated from Texas.

He played safety because he was far and away the best safety on the roster
He was one of the top 2 corners, behind Aaron Williams

Your suggesting that Muschamp wanted to have 1 great corner, 1 very good corner, and no good safeties
versus 1 great safety, 1 great corner, and 1 good corner?

His highest value to the team was clearly at safety.

During Nickel situations, his highest value was at the Nickel CB position so that's why he played there and not at safety.

It's similar to why Kindle played Buck DE last year, he would have been the best OLB, but he had better value to the team at Buck DE because nobody else could play the position nearly as well as he could.

Also your argument about speed converting to CB is hurting my head, as if the letters next to his name on the depth chart somehow make him slower. He isn't some 220lb box safety, He played closer to 195-200 and the tape shows he is plenty fast to play cover 2 corner, a mid 4.4 40 @ 208 gets pretty close to 4.4 flat at 195, that's not fast enough to play CB?
It will be interesting to see if (or what) he runs at the UT pro day, along with what drills he does.

And if the titans staff ( I know different D coordinator ) thought Griffin could convert to CB, they sure as hell think that Thomas can, he has much better hips and coverage ability than Mike did coming out of college

Not saying you guys should draft ET, I think other areas have more pressing needs, but man this argument is getting ridiculous and Deuce most of what your saying doesn't make any sense logically.
of course you are entitled to your opinion, i just really don't understand most of your reasons behind it

also the pissing match between Michigan and Texas is retarded. Texas won get over it ;)
