To be honest, if I was a GM. We would have 4 super bowls cause I would use my money for the fans, and not my 2 finger fan appreciation!

    This damn Madden approach.

Dansby is good but one thing you may be missing is that he may not work in our system.

How exactly are they right? Good players don't work in every system and there are very few key players in Free Agency each year.

Not really- just pressed to pick one from TJ's list. I would have preferred to trade for Cromartie. That was essentially a one year deal.

And I sure as hell would not have paid 12 million next year for an AVERAGE at best offensive lineman .

    Well...

    Interesting...

Are you aware Bodden TURNED DOWN a 4yr 16mil contract LAST YEAR? Supposedly he's looking for 5-8mil per year and considering he outplayed Dunta Robinson, he should easily get more than you would pay him. I agree he would be an upgrade over Harper, but I'm not sold on Bodden being a Pro Bowl CB. 3 of his interceptions were simply bad throws by Sanchez...not good plays by Bodden (unless simply catching the ball counts).

I have a different perspective on Sheppard considering I live in NY and have many Jets fans and went to the Titans/Jets game. Sheppard is NOT worth 4mil a year as he may or may not be a starting caliber CB in the league and 4mil a year is what we're paying our Pro Bowl caliber CB Finnegan. If Rex Ryan benches you and inserts backup CB's to start in your place...that's a VERY BAD SIGN!!! And this is his second stint on teams with great defenses ending up on the bench. If I could sign Sheppard for the vet min with a ton of incentives, I'd sign him. Unfortunately, he's also the kind of guy the Titans would sign for 4mil a year and by week 3, we'll realize it was a mistake and now we're stuck with him and a decently high contract. Yes he's better than Harper because Harper isn't a starting caliber CB anymore, but that's hardly a recommendation for a nice money contract IMO.

    Um...

I understand your point, but the point being presented to you is that you're not making a strong case for your point.

Case in point...Devery Henderson was a 2nd rnd pick. And didn't every team...including the Saints pass on Colston during the first 6 rnds? Clearly they didn't think he was worth more either right?

The Titans have a system and like most teams, those systems evolve and sometimes go the wrong way too. For a few years they tried to take not just BPA...but guys who were boom/bust players....we got a lot of busts! We learned from it and hopefully are limiting how many of those players we're gonna gamble on.

The Titans offense is not as complex as the Saints offense, but neither is anyone elses and that includes the Colts. The Titans defense is a basic system for an NFL team, but that scheme has worked for the last 2 decades and has been run by many good playoff and Super Bowl winning teams. You may not like it, but it can be VERY effective - IF you have the right personel.

    Um...

First, I'm sure Bud CAN afford a Peppers deal, but do they want to RISK that much money on a guy with awesome talent but an inconsistent motor? How are we looking now having NOT signed Haynesworth? If we had, you'd be calling for MR's head for making such a hug blunder, right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't work for the Titans do you? If not, then how would you know what they did or did not have a discussion on? And since you don't know, why would it bug you?

Ok really dude? THIS is just being purely apologetic. The desire for a free agent that has clearly demonstrated upper echelon talent in a position of need is NOT a madden approach, especially in a position as relatively copy/paste as linebacker. It's not like he's 3-4 going to a 4-3. That's really intellectually dishonest.

We don't know if its a fit, but you don't know if anyone is a fit until they hit the field. Nick Harper is apparently a perfect for our system and we see how that's worked out.

And besides, Dansby is straight up baller. Throw him in at MLB, and build the Defense around him. It's been SO long since we've had a huge MLB that could dominate the center of the field. In no universe does he not make this team better, and the price really wasn't that outrageously high. Especially considering player prices go up EVERY YEAR.

Probably because MLB plays less snaps then anyone on defense. Again, pay a guy heaps who won't be on the field half the time. Really?

Dont look now but the jags are more active than we are in free agency. Kampman was good sign. They say we are interested in another ex-colt marlin Jackson and jason Babin will be in nashville tomorrow. Jackson has a torn acl and is a zone corner, dont think we need that if fisher is serious about playing less zone

I would have no problem if we sit pat this season with a couple of minor signings for our defense. If we draft well this season I think we will be right in the thick of things.

Let's save the big spending for next season! All of the players across the league who were given 1 year tenders, will become unrestricted free agents! There will be a very very large pool of young talented players. It has the potential to be like the NBA's upcoming offseason with top level talent being able to change teams easily.

Players who are not over the hill like KVB. You guys do realize that the second best defensive lineman in free agency this year was a player none of us wanted back on this team. They doesnt say much for the depth of this years free agent talent.
