Actually there are coaches who have done so. And if you are a coach stupid enough to wait 6 games to pull that turn over machine then you deserve to be fired.

My history is foggy (as i am suffering from insomnia right now and wasting time here) but didnt the chargers do that to phillip rivers? Or something similar?

I am foggy as i have said, what about the long term QB the patriots had (think it was bledsoe) again my history is foggy but i am sure there are a bunch of coaches who did this.

And with the defense , oline and CJ on that team, a coach gotta be doubly stupid to assume it was a 40 year old QB that got him that 12-3 record.

Okay I blame dbc for Fishers short comings. It's these out of touch fans that fuel Fishers ignorance. It seems that Fisher goes into a situation knowing everything and yet still misses so much. He knew coming into the 2009 that CB was a weakness, but still kept going with no quality depth at the position when there were options. I will always stand behind him when talking about good leaders, good managers, but he's so out of his element when we need points. He often times over values his experience as a strength, when its whats standing is his way. Fisher is the Titans worst enemy. And it really truly sucks because he's not leaving for a while.

Fisher also took a look at the Free Agent market in 2009 and was not surprisingly underwhelmed. We know that the Titans franchise does not like to overpay for talent and have been bit by this in the past (Moulds). So he decided to go with the draft and found that Mouton was not as good as he should have been, and Harper got considerably worse and Finnegan played a lot of the year hurt. (I will concede that I thought he should have gone after other CBs in the draft but in hind-sight we didnt miss too much - maybe Macho Harris).

Things happen.... its how you respond and he had the team do a great turn-around (with or without Adams help).

Not sure I want to wade into this because of the overreaction it will cause...

I understand that many people are frustrated with and/or don't like Fisher. That's fine, there are some reasonable justifications for that. However, a couple of the reasons given in this thread are pretty terrible as justification, so I'll comment on those...

Fisher should have started Vince one game earlier? Against the Pats? Does ANYONE on here honestly think that either 1) we would have come close to winning that game, or 2) kerry was even close to the top of the list of reasons as to why we lost that game? I'd say defense in all caps should get the top three spots at least, without even getting more specific.

I'd agree that our depth at CB was bad. However, we took a chance and got burned. Three guys in your secondary missing multiple weeks at the same time is always going to cause a major dropoff. Once we got into the season, there weren't that many options, and none of them were good. Often Fisher gets criticized for waiting too long to let rookies get on the field. He took a chance here and it burned him, big time. Didn't hurt that we played two of the best passing teams in the league two of the weeks when we had the least depth in the secondary.

My issue with Jeff is the lack of adjustments he makes during games, and the lack of urgency he displays for anything outside of special teams. When Hentrich got hurt how long did it take him to go find a new punter? 15 minutes? And why the hell is Donnie Nickey even playing? Now how about when when Finny Griff and Fuller all get hurt? He signs Rod Hood and plays a bunch of baloney rookies who couldn't cover a bed with a quilt. And the fact that he thought he could just stroll into the season with NOBODY on the depth chart to return kicks? Are you kidding me? Chris Carr was a pivotal part of our success last year. Short fields=easy points.

More issues: the forever present lack of pass rush. If we can all see that there is no pressure on the QB when we rush four, then he can see it too. And he doesn't adjust, he just tries the same thing over and over and over. It nearly let Miami beat us in a game that we were winning by three scores in the second half. It's the reason Brady and Manning can gash us and slash us at will, because they can just grab an arm chair, sit down, relax, and get up to throw when someone gets open. Marc Sanchez threw for 250 and multiple TD against our defense. And it's not just the secondary, it's the pass rush. And Fisher just refuses to blitz, he just has this completely conservative approach to playing football. If you're winning, run the ball. Run on third down, run on first down, run till you punt. Rush four, play cover 2, don't give up big plays. Let them move the ball, just no big plays. Well guess what....THAT DOESN'T WORK.

Third and maybe the most irritating issue: His lack of respect for younger players. Kenny Britt finished 3rd on our depth chart, behind Nate Washington. Nate Washington sucked this season. He dropped HUGE passes that would have been TDs on multiple occasions this season. Britt, on the other hand, made big plays out of small plays, and can run after the catch and break tackles. So why the hell did he finish number 3? Why did Jared Cook not get ANY playing time at all? I understand he was slowed by the ankle injury, but I only think he saw MAYBE 15-20 plays the entire season. And, unless I'm mistaken, he made some big time clutch catches on 'The Drive' against Arizona that helped us win that game.

Jeff Fisher told us this was the best team he has ever fielded. Well, Jeff, I would have to agree with that notion. And if we had coach who could put this very good team in positions to win games, I think we could have been playing football in January.

sorta contradicting yourself :ha:. But you are right. And the only reason i would like fisher to stay is his knowledge from being on the competition committee.

    Well...

Sorry this is long, but you asked a lot of questions and I tried to address them all...

It's not too hard to find a decent punter in a pinch. Remember, there are usually some old guys who no one wants to pay big money too who are around plus a dozen punters who don't get drafted. The nature of the position.

He's a good special teams player and they don't have anyone better. My REAL problem is Lowry. Nickey is unimportant in the big picture.

Finding free agent CB's who can play and be signed for decent money is HARD! Who should they have signed? And you're quite contradictory saying Fisher has no respect for rookies because he tends not to play them...but then the ones he does play who don't have good results...you blame him for playing them. We signed a couple of guys and thought a few guys on the roster could win the job. It didn't work out very well. Wanna criticize him for not having a better returner...fine. But you don't normally have your top 3 CB's go down at the same time so playing 2 rookies is not exactly a crime. I would agree that we should have had better CB depth since I've been the biggest person on the board complaining that we always are 3-4 deep at TE while CB seems pretty thin.

First, didn't Dungy prove that defense works very well with the Bucs and the Colts? How can you say the philosophy doesn't work. It does, but when the personel stop it from working, you have a big problem. Second, we did make adjustments. He tried moving the CB's back another 5yds and then teams were just throwing 5 yd hitches at will. We tried blitzing more. Vs the Colts we actually put our 4 best pass rushers on the field with some positive effect. But most adjustments you didn't like...but they made the adjustment. They also did blitz...the problem is we weren't very successful at it. Even when he dialed up the right blitz, our players messed it up or with 6 1v1 matchups we couldn't get a win on any of them. I've routinely described the blitz against the Jets in great detail to convey this point. We brought more guys than they could block but because Bulluck jumped in the air and KVB lost contain, Sanchez rolled to the opposite side and then ran for a TD. Cecil made the adjustment and made the right call...terrible execution. Bulluck and KVB KNOW BETTER but who gets your blame...Fisher? I have no problem with blaming Cecil to some extent because I believe the DC is accountable for his defensive execution...but to say they didn't make adjustments during the year or during games is simply incorrect. If you want to rip certain people for some adjustments not being effective...prove you know what you're talking about and blame the people who deserve it.

First, I would agree that Britt is the most talented WR on the roster...but you can also see that the coaching staff doesn't want to give him more than he can chew..meaning they didn't want him trying to remember what to do. Our offense is predicated on running the ball, chewing clock, the occasional big pass play and not making mistakes. As with your diatribe earlier...rookies tend to make mistakes as they adjust to the league. Britt made rookie mistakes too. Unfortunately, Washington didn't have a great season either. I would guess the Titans thinking was that Gage knows the offense better than anyone else and has the best hands and is a good possession WR. Washington is the fastest WR we have so teams either have to stop putting 8 in the box or have to deal with Wash deep down the field 1v1. I agree that Wash needs to get better and I think he will. However, I also think Wash is a better slot guy than outside guy (though he has blocked well). I would have bumped Gage and Britt to 1/2 with Wash and Hawkins 3/4. I think we'll see that next season.

While Wash had more visible drops because they were bombs, Britt also had several drops and made other rookie mistakes which led to incompletions (not coming back for the ball). Why Cook didn't get more playing time is a mystery. I would suppose the 3 factors are his injury, his lack of knowledge of the playbook...and most of all, his lack of ability to run block from what I've seen.

Haven't you learned coaches don't tell you anything in press conferences? Every coach lies through the media. Most of the time, they are actually speaking to the players...not the fans.
