Very True. Sponsors acknowledged that this was the main reason holding them back to using him in their commercials.

Also I dont think im the only one whose noticed the Chris Johnson head/braid bob whenever the cameras are on him. But I think it just makes me like him more and realize hes even more of a beast.

CJ will be in a couple commercials next season. He does have gold teeth and dreds so he gives off a thug look but the way the entertainment industry is today, someone will find a way to put him to market him.

I believe a lot of folks have difficulty with contracts- including players. One universal human premise is to get more for less expenditure. It is tied in with the belief that there is a finite amount of provisions and we must all strive to garner as much as we can for our security. ("How much is enough?" etc)

I no longer get emotional regarding players and their desire for more money. I don't try to rationalize one way or the other whether their desire or actions to attain their goal is justified. The market is the great equalizer and will allow a player to be fairly compensated. It takes the experience a quality agent or consultant can provide to navigate a player through the business "trickery" that can rob a player of his value.

CJ will be fine. If the Titans don't renegotiate, then he can hold out until the Titans do or risk losing playing next year. It will work out like it is supposed to. It is a waste of time to worry about it as a fan IMO.

My biggest concern is creating bad blood between himself and management if a hold out is needed. Chris seems content with where he's at (career wise). So I wouldn't expect a third year guy to do that. He knows his place (for now anyways). But imagine he did hold out. We'd lose games and he'd get his money eventually. Sure he'd hurt a tiny little bit by not getting to play for a week or two, but he'd win the battle. Then once he could leave, he would (if they didn't renegotiate).

My other fear is that he's too good to be a Titan. And that's not me talking that's the world weighing in on our business in Titan land. If I'm the GM, right now I'm checking out the best pro prospects, then going from there to see if those new rookies are better for me than my current free agents. Then after the draft they should pay Chris. I'm assuming they're planning to pay him by around this time next year. Setting him up to amuse the world during the 2010 season.

I suspect CJ will suggest he gets a new contract now or else..... I'm betting the Titans throw something his way. 2K is a MAJOR indicator of RB talent- not just attributable to our O-line. How much gets offered, we will just have to see.

The Titans GM philosophy now seems to be keep the team in the playoff hunt- but nothing more. No huge contracts for big talent. CJ will probably have to get ugly to get the Titans to respect him with the wallet.
