That's not what I said but you reading into quotes incorrectly isn't anything new.

So we don't hire a loser like Wayne Phillips (who?... WADE!) or Norv Turner hire a promising coordinator. How are you not tired of mediocrity? That's what we've seen for 10 freaking years, mediocrity. At this point there's more wrong with Fisher than right. I guess your content with mediocrity but most of us aren't. Most of us don't like seeing a team quit on a coach TWICE in a season. Most of us don't like seeing us lose by 59 or 30 something. Most of us don't like seeing the coaching staff doing everything they can to lose to Miami. And I guarantee most of us don't like seeing us start 0-6 and ultimately miss the playoffs in a year with the biggest expectations we've ever had. I'm just trying to figure out, what is it about Fisher we want for next year? More mediocrity? Not winning in the playoffs? Not meeting expectations? This stupid philosophy of "keep it close and win in the end" which has shown to keep us winless in the playoffs for what 6 years now?

That's true but when it comes to the playoffs it is about winning and losing and in the playoffs Fisher is a loser. There's people who have been fired with not only a better win percentage than Fisher but people who have a ring or rings who don't have a job. The fact is Fisher is an average coach and when you have an average coach what does that produce? It produces mediocrity which is what we have been.

Well I'm not up on exactly who we lose in the offseason so bare with me.

    1. Offensive Line needs to stay intact. (i think amano is up for FA but i think we need him to stay as we can't really replace him with sure talent in the draft with our amount of picks.)

    2. Linebacker in the draft (hello have you seen what cushing has done for the texans and matthews for the packers?)

    3. Cornerback in the draft (without a FA pick-up i'd almost say fuller is our #2 cb depending on how our rookies panned out from last year. So we need to get a quality pick up here.

    4. Defensive End in the draft (yeah KVB isn't getting it done, we see alot more production when people like ford come in off the bench for some reason lol)

    5. Keep KB for 1 -2 years if we don't get a stud at LB. McRath has been pretty solid and i expect alot next year but we need to make sure we have our defenses leadership intact. But idealy we would get a very nice lb in the draft and keep him but I'm guilty of rose colored glasses when it comes to trades sometimes lol

Maybe we can pickup a solid pass rusher in FA. Then pickup a solid corner in the first round. We should be able to pickup some solid LB in the later rounds.

    Lol....

Here's what you said..."The team we just played fired a coach after going 14-2 who was considered "respected" and replaced him with a proven failure. It's not just Dallas, everyone does it." The tenure of your paragraph is that Fisher should be fired. Are you contradicting your own point by showing that other teams are foolish to fire a coach who went 14-2 and replaced him with a 'proven failure'??? If not, then the implication of your quote is that Fisher should be fired even if he's replaced with a proven failure...

If that's not what you intended, perhaps you can explain the purpose of what I quoted above and what point you are trying to bolster with it?

Sorry, it was like 4am and I was a little tired...

Sorry, I didn't get the memo that a 13-3 team ('08) was mediocre. Is 10-6 ('07) mediocre? Is 12-4 ('03)? How about 11-5 ('02)? How about back to back years of 13-3 ('99-2000)? As far as I can tell that's 6 strong winning records in the last 10 years...and that includes a few years to rebuild the team.

Fisher rebuilt the team ('94-'98) into a powerhouse ('99-'03). How many mediocre coaches did that? By your standard...half the coaches did, right? Oops. At the end of '03, Fisher had a 5-4 post-season record and nearly won the Super Bowl. Personally I think they did all they could do in that Superbowl considering they were down early and had to face the greatest passing attack ever seen (up to that point) without their FS and SS (Bishop was carried off during the game)...and yet the team valiantly rallied back. To me...at the game, it was a defining moment when he called the team over and spoke to them while Bishop...the heart and soul of the D was being wheeled off on a stretcher. Guess you see that from mediocre coaches, right? I don't.

It took us another 3 years to get a winning record rebuilding once again. While VY provided us a tremendous spark and litterally won a few games by himself, the '07 team was not ready to take on the likes of a powerhouse Chargers team. The team overachieved that year...but they weren't a good enough team to make much noise in the playoffs. And last year WE WERE the dominant team in the NFL and were derailed by unusual turnovers on offense and our DC was out-coached for enough big plays to make the difference. Football is a game and the best team doesn't always win. It's one of the reasons why turnovers are such an important stat...and even then, bad teams still beat good teams sometimes.

Fisher, MR and the rest of the coaching staff did not anticipate the D falling apart due to Haynesworth's absence and KVB being unable to pressure the QB for most of the season and the drastic effect that had on our secondary. They did also not anticipate (no one did) the OL being so inconsistent that it made our dominant run game inconsistent. Combine the D struggling mightily against the pass and the offense not being able to run effectively consistently forcing Collins to throw more (and the detrimental effect that had) and you fall into an 0-6 start no coach has ever come out of like we did. But I guess that's what mediocre coaches do...

I don't think so although there is definite room for improvement. Fisherball is not really Fisherball but old school football philosophy and it's produced a lot of Super Bowl winners so this fallacy that it doesn't work is silly. Fisher is an above avg coach...but most elite coaches are 'til they win a Super Bowl then they get an aura. Some of those coaches are rather mediocre but happen to fall into great sitautions. Is Switzer a Hall of Fame coach? He won a SB and had winning teams built and put together by another coach. I think Dungy's a good coach, but not an elite one. He'll get the moniker for winning a SB, but they should have won more with the Hall of Fame talent on that roster. As a point of comparison...

Most people only look at Dungy's years at Indy and they are worth looking at...
From '02-'05...Peyton Manning was league MVP 3 times but Dungy's record in the playoffs with the Colts was 3-4...a losing record by my count.
In '06 they go 4-0 in the playoffs and win the Superbowl. In '07 and '08, the Colts are 1 and done each year (lose to the Chargers) despite Manning AGAIN winning MVP in '08. While Dungy gets the SB halo, his career playoff record with the Colts is only 7-6...not exactly lights out and 4 of those wins came in one year. Perhaps more telling is if you look at his whole career as head coach. While at Tampa, despite having Hall of Fame talent in Sapp and Brooks, Dungy only compiled a 54-42 record (Fisher was 57-39 over same period) and never produced a team that won 12 games. His playoff record with the Bucs was 2-4...elite? For his career Dungy has a losing playoff record at 9-10 and without '06 his record the other years was only 5-10.

There is a difference between quitting and laying an egg. The Giants just layed an egg against Carolina and that's WITH a SB winning head coach, a team playing for the playoffs and to send Giants stadium off on a win...and they got anihilated. As bad as the Titans coaching and front office misjudged how the team would be this season, Fisher and company did an incredible job to bring the team back from an 0-6 start. Usually, a start like that leads to 1-15 or 2-14 seasons while the Titans actually pulled to .500 with a shot at making the playoffs.

Neither do the other teams fans...but it sometimes happens. Hopefully they will fix the personel, coaching, scheme, playcalling and execution.

Tell that to all the legendary coaches who used it to build dominant teams and win multiple championships.

From Fisher's record, some dominant teams for a few seasons with a chance to win the Superbowl followed by a rebuilding project. Hopefully we WIN the SuperBowl this time and don't need so much time to rebuild the team (and recover from a badly mismanaged cap).

Jerry Jones wouldn't have a Superbowl if it wasn't for 4 Hall of Fame players on his team.

Fisher's never managed 3 consecutive winning seasons (source: Kuharsky). That's mediocre to me.

So they couldn't predict how much Haynesworth would be missed, but good coaches don't just stay the course when things aren't working. They try to change the scheme to the strength of the personnel, but we've stuck with what wasn't working the entire season.

For his career Fisher has a losing playoff record at 5-6 and without the '99/'00 record the other years he was only 2-5. Are you telling me Dungy's record isn't considerably better? If not only for the fact that he has nearly twice the playoff games that Fisher does?

I did, and Bill just laughed at me...
