THe QB makes a huge difference but the receivers still have to catch the ball. Of course its a team effort.

The point is that they were 0-4 his rookie year and went 8-8. We were 0-6 and now are 5-6. The time of possessin helps the defense because I can tell you, our defense is porous and nothing like last years team. Look at time of possession since VY came in. THe threat of VY helps the running game by keeping the D a litte off ballance. Remember Travis Henry? THat guy sucked and became a 1000 yard rusher.

Well except that he wasn't that great his rookie season, at least passing wise. He did a great job rushing though, which is primarily what won him ROY (well that and his highlight reel finishes to a couple of games).

He improved his passing game his second year, but he was still not good. And the times that he has come in for KC in the last 2 seasons, he has been abysmal as well.

I mean how patient should a realistic person be? It had been over 3 years and Vince had played his way out of the starting spot and didn't show enough when was given other chances to merit getting another shot at starting.

I'm glad he's playing great now. I hope it continues. Props to those who kept the faith, but I think it's quite reasonable for the "haters" to assume that was looking like a bust.

That's what I mean. You won't even give him that he had a great rookie year. He is the only rookie QB to go the pro bowl. He had repeated come from behind victories his rookie year. We were really close to making the playoffs iif we had only beaten NE. That team was absolutely attrocious before he came in. It was painful beyond words to watch. Sack after Sack after Sack....again, remember how good Travis Henry became.

Part of his success is definitely his running ability but he completed over 60 percent of his passes. He is no Jemarcus Russell. He just needed work on specific skils like throwing on the run, timing on deep balls, and reading coverages. Do you now admit that he has obviously worked on those issues?

People that haven't watched his deveopment over the years don't understand him and how great his leadership in really tough situations.

For one, Travis Henry didn't become anything. He was a good RB before he came to the Titans. He was just injured a lot. But if you recall, he had back to back 1,000 yard seasons with the Bills before he came to Tennessee.

Secondly, Vince was flat out terrible in his passing game as a rookie. That cannot be ignored. I gave him credit for his rushing, but you simply cannot complete 51.5 percent of your passes and expect to be a good QB at the NFL level.

He didn't show me (or Jeff Fisher obviously) anything that would merit me saying that he should be the starting QB of the Tennessee Titans. That doesn't mean I thought he was sitting on the sideline every week with his thumb up his butt. I certainly thought he was working to improve. However, the results simply weren't there, whether in his time filling in for KC this year or his performances in the pre-season.

I am certainly glad he's doing well, and I'm more than willing to eat some crow. But I certainly won't admit that he was doing well prior to week 8 of the 2009 season.

If that is the case then VY should've never lost his job because of his winning/losing ratio. He lost his job because of the expectatives created in his rookie year which didn't give him any room for error. Once he started showing that he is human, that he was not a perfect pocket passer and that he was making mistakes, and in a learning process all of a sudden he was terrible. Everybody wanted a finished product, he was not, he was a diamond in the rough. He didn't have the luxury to have a father who was a QB in the NFL, nor the benefit from coming through the back door and work his way into stardom. Nevertheless he's been able to suck it in and take it while learning and growing as pro QB. To be honest, that's the story of a one of a kind. Let's see how the story unfolds.

By the way, what makes Favre special is not that he has the most interceptions nor touchdowns, but the fact that he loves the game and he does not believe he can lose, he is the kind of guy that would be playing defense and special teams if you let him, so is Vince.

Best game thus far for Vy and in my opinion the first time he has showed that he may be a franchise QB. It was great performance minus the mental error of not being aware of the clock but i thought i would never see the day he threw for over 300 yards. I am a known Vy hater and i'm not saying that i'm back on his bandwagon cause i never have been on his bandwagon. But, that was a great performance and i am cautiously optimistic that he may have turned the corner as a passer.

Vince threw for 305 against Denver his second year. Would have been a lot more, but none of the titans receivers wanted to catch the ball that day. Weird how people forget that.

Let's not compare Vince Young to Mr. Favre just yet. I've never seen Fave quit on his team in the middle of a season or 'tweak his hammy.. (or knee.. what exactly did Vince Young injure again??) and refused to get treatment on it. PURE speculation, but Brett (along with 99% of other PROS) would have gotten treatment on whatever it was that needed it in order to get back on the field ASAP.

I can say that Vince Young seems to have matured in the past year or so, but let's hold off on the Favre comparisons just yet.

Ever since the beginning of the season I knew we should have started VY. After the first few games my thoughts were reinforced...it's interesting to think if we had just started him in the beginning of the season instead of letting Collins let us blow those games (while he is not all at fault...I believe he was part of the problem).

I agree...I dont think it was all Collins fault, but he just wasnt the QB ie: had the tools and ability....to run the system that Dingers has implemented.

Look at the offensive tools we have, a speed receiver, two big wides, a possesion TE and a blocking TE.....all with arguably the best RB in the league. Dinger has been trying run a system, the same system he used with McNair(RIP 9...thanks for watching over us).

Now who's playing style matches McNair's...it certainly isnt Collins, and we are starting to see that Vince is growing into the mold.

Im not saying we would be undefeated if Vince started the season with how mature he is now.....but I can honestly believe we would be alot deeper in the playoff hunt and not running as fast as CJ does on the field, to catch up to everyone.
