I'm just trying to guess what happened - maybe kav-what's his name got a lot of flack for fielding it inside the 20 - so rather than try to return punts (you know since that is the name of the position punt RETURNER) he tried to double his whopping 10 yard career long return with 20 yard touchbacks...

The horrible irony is, despite what we may think about fair catching inside the 15 - the way he played today that would be an IMPROVEMENT!!

Although the positive diamond in the pile of :grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:: is that at least he's less likely to muff a punt since he never catches it live ball.

All the blame can't be on him, the entire punt team needs to be changed, put 2 men on each gunner instead of stacking the box hoping for a blocked punt that let's face it - might happen once out of a hundred and more than likely sets us up for a roughing the kicker call..

The serious problem is that the gunners ALWAYS get to kav-a-wha's his name. ALMOST UNABATED!!!

Dismal.. just absolutely dismal. For the next week 10 hours a day they need to have the punt team practicing and get kav-what's his name either replaced or have him rehearse how to field a ball in every possible situation from memory.

Chris Carr just had a nice return too. Rub a little salt in it. Field position was so important last year, and in 07 we lost that playoff game to a punter. Whoever runs this team year in and year out fails to recognize the importance. CJ is probably our best returner. But there are enough out there where we shouldn't have to use 'im.

It's not lowry, it's the players, we have no returners and the guys on special teams just suck. This is the same coach from last yr so he hasn't changed.

Britt actually did look comfortable returning kickoffs...I still say we bring in Justin Miller this week and work him out.

But our coverage is pathetic...that KO return TD changed the momentum of the game and ALMOST cost us.

I agree. We have giving the opposing team good field position all year off of bad kick coverage. It has to get better our it is going to cost us another game.

kaeshviharn has to go. I'm sorry but on that punt that ended up and set up the drive all he had to do was make a little bit of contact with Stephens - Howling and he pussied out and moved right out of the way without even making an attempt to block, and instead of the ball rolling into the endzone for a touchback it was downed at the one. i watched it over and over on my dvr and was amazed that he couldnt of just gave him a nudge, its like he ran in the opposite direction

MR and fisher are to blame for not keeping Carr. He only signed for $2.5M a year for the ravens, hardly an expensive guy who is a quality return man for both kicks and punts.

Carr is also playing a lot at CB for the ravens and has a sack and an int.

For a team that has historically had mediocrity and instability in the return game that was a big mistake and probably cost us at least one game.

I guess when you are in a situation like we are you have to take desperate measures but using your best WR to return kickoffs is an uncomfortable thing.

During the broadast they mentioned that this was the first KO returned for a TD against the Titans since 1999, so I'm guessing he hasn't been completely horrible in that timeframe.

As to Carr, didn't he go to the Ravens because he would get more playing time at DB? If that's the case he wouldn't have stuck around for 2.5mil...
