Harper got burned in every game he played in. Hood got interceptions in every game he played in. Easy decision IMO

Harper played decently well last year, but in his few opportunities this year he's looked bad. He can still tackle but he can't run with any #1 WR and consistently gets burned. He can't get a good bump off the line to knock a receiver off his route because of his lack of speed - can't risk playing up on the line. With Hood in we've been able to play much more aggressivlely and it's paid off. I knew this decision was coming, I just hoped it would be AFTER the Colts.

I do hope that we at least let Finny line up with AJ, whichever side they put him on. Maybe with the improved D line play our secondary can still hold up, but if I'm Schaub I'm going deep on the 1st play of the game to test Harper right away. This could be bad.

Whats sad is you know the texans are gonna attack harper. He coming off an injury and is less aggressive. Be prepared to meet the rest of the houston receiving corps tonight if harper is in.

I agree I don't care if harper plays or not all I want is FINNY on the right side this happend with PACman and Hill a while ago.

I think what helped Harper last season was the consistent pressure the front line got on the QB last season..I think that as a whole made the secondary looked pretty darn good..because one always helps the other. But this season the front line hasnt got the same kind of pressure up front...and that leaves Harper more exposed so to speak imo. So if we can pressure schaub up front..maybe it wont be as bad..but if not..its going to be a LONG day

    It's simple...

First off, don't believe what the pundits are saying. The Titans aren't playing much more man coverage and are still playing a ton of cover 2 zone.

The problem isn't whether Hood or Harper is out there (except inside the 10 yd line) but whether we continue to play 80-90% cover 2. Our S's have been getting toasted in nearly every game because the Titans play a predictable coverage and teams can more easily attack that scheme since we are not getting consistent pressure with the front 4.

The Titans need to limit cover 2 to when/if the Texans are inside our 10 yd line. For the rest of the time, they need to put Finny on the Texans 2nd best WR in man coverage and use Harper on AJ in a trail technique with Griffin doubling him over the top. Inside the red zone, they should put Griffin on AJ with Hope over the top, drop Harper into a half zone with Hood and Fuller as the underneath cb's. We can't let the Texans dictate coverage matchups...ESPECIALLY inside the 10 where they can match AJ against Haper and take advantage of the height/size/athleticism mismatch.

When the Titans go zone, they need to give the same man/doubling look but roll the coverage to AJ's side giving us a 3 deep look.

The Titans need to mix coverages a lot which alone will help a lot since the Texans will build there game plan around attacking and expectating cover 2 zone. DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM!!!

The Titans SHOULD play more man. Another way to double AJ would be to line Bulluck over him...press him at the line and have Bulluck trail him with Griffin over top (not in zone). Match Finny and Harper on there #2 and #3 guys. You can also do this from a conventional look by having Bulluck bail out and run at/behind AJ with the CB bailing out and staying over top. Keep the other safety deep in a single high look with the backside cb (Finny) in man coverage. You can also blitz out of this. The 46 D's (including our old one), current Ravens, Jets, and Steelers use these 'trap' coverages. We should too. The less predictable our coverage is, the more likely we are to force Schaub into a mistake without having to blitz the house.

At times we played dime coverage against the Bills. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of that against the Texans.

It isn't very creative but it at least gives more bodies to protect against the deep threat of AJ.

I feel the same way. You could ask why another 600 times, and Fisher still won't have an answer. Maybe Harper gives us the best chance to win.

lets wait and see how much time he actually sees... I wouldn't rule out Hood being inserted at some point in the game
