VY only respectable in a dumb down offensive game plan with 5 yard dump offs. Throwing down the field = either interception or incomplete pass.

Vince opens things up, and the players seem to just play a bit harder when he's on the field. Now we had a bye, which helped us organize well enough to pull this off, I'm sure. However, this team had a lot of pep for a 0-6 team. Call it what you want, but Vince was one of the big changes. How much of this is on him? I don't know, but some of it is. The team came out with more fire than we've seen since week one. If we had pulled off victories against Pitt and Houston, both very winnable games, we'd still be thinking playoffs right now. Sadly, we didn't. But I'm pulling for an 8-8 season, which would be HUGE at this point. It would also put us in the sweet spot of the draft, allowing us to grab a good player without too much money.

But back to Vince. The coaches wanted to build up his confidence, and it worked. I don't think he'll get :grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:y, either. He's been too low to jump that far, and as everyone has pointed out, it's not like he won this game. He just didn't lose it. But that's a start.

Vince is throwing the shorter passes better. He's making better reads than he did before. I saw a lot of maturity in him. He didn't take any sacks, and he didn't throw any INTs. The one he almost threw was a great run by Cox. I didn't think he could get there, but he suddenly turned on the juice and flew to the ball. I think Vince was trying to throw it deep thinking Gage was the only one who could get to it. It looked like Gage pulled up a bit to me, which he shouldn't do. I don't think it was a terrible read or throw. It is what it is. Overall, Vince played a solid, mistake free style game, which is what we wanted in our QB this year. It's what Collins was hired to do, but hasn't been able to perform. Vince did it, and I don't care about his YPA, if he can keep drives alive like he did on Sunday.

What impressed me the most is he seemed decisive (made the reads quickly) and did a nice job stepping into his passes. He fit the ball into some tight spots.

For Vince to be successful, he needs those games where he only makes 20-25 passing attempts. That means the Titans are playing decent defense and special teams and have the running game going. That's been rare this season.

When the Titans are not relying on Young to win the game with his arm is when he plays his best football. Defenses shift focus to CJ and it opens up more opportunities for VY.

His confidence has to be as high as it has been for a long time. Let's see if it was a springboard to a bright future or a fluke.

Yeah I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned..I don't think I've ever seen Vince go through his reads like he did Sunday. He was reading the entire field and finding open guys, something Kerry rarely did this season.

And 19-11. Although, did you expect the coaches to let him come out slinging the ball his first game in over a year? By the way I don't recall Kerry exactly lighting it up with the downfield passes this year.

This is the drive which led to the TD pass to Wash. The screen to Scaife was probably the best screen we've seen this season. The other two completions were due, in part, to a mismatch. Ricky Nelson is the Jags FS who had to move outside and cover Wash due to injuries. You can see him reading Young on that first completion so VY must have done a nice job not allowing his eyes to give away the play. Young did a nice job throwing the ball to a spot on both passes.

his footwork was light years ahead of where it was in the 07 preseason. he was practically falling over himself after his rookie year. against the jags he looked smooth and fluid.

he only threw one ball into the dirt and he was rolling out with a defender in his face on that one.

when was the last time we scored on the opening drive of a game? when was the last time we didn't go 3 and out on the opening drive?

    Nit-pick Fix.

People seem to forget that our offense worked all last year mostly on this philosophy. I think Kerry only had 2 or 3 games where he passed over 200 yards last year.

This is exactly the kind of offense our team is built to run, and VY is a really good QB for it. He keeps us on schedule with his legs, which is something that we've not been able to do consistently for the past 6 games. It's probably a bit much to expect 80% passing every week from Vince (also, sky is blue, water is wet), but if he can keep up that efficiency, we'll be in good shape.

One thing he definitely needs to work on is keeping his eyes down field when he scrambles. The pass to Britt was spectacular and a great play, but there were a couple times in the redzone where I thought I saw the defense converge on him during a scramble, and he had a person free in the endzone. It led to points anyway, but if Vince wants to stay for the long haul, he needs the ability to punish defenses for focusing on the QB.
