Vince had a good game yesterday. CJ had a phenomenal game, but Vince absolutely had a good one. I understand that he only passed for 125 yards, but the more important statistics are the 83% completion percentage and the 0 turnovers. Any QB with a RB whos over 200 yards isn't going to be doing too much throwing. He also extended several drives with his legs, making an impossible pass to Britt on the sideline for a first down under ridiculous pressure.

However, what I noticed the most was the swagger of the team. Everyone on the field was playing with confidence...something I haven't seen since in weeks. The O line rallied around Vince and CJ and gave them both opportunities to make plays, which they did. VY's run/pass threat keeps defense honest, allowing HUGE plays by CJ because the defense is on their heels as opposed to running downhill hoping to sack Kerry or hit CJ in the back field.

This was one game against a horrendous team. It was a good game, but we need good, consistent production out of him. He has the ability to make plays to extend drives, and I really like the looks of VY an CJ out there. If this team ends up between 6-10 and 8-8, which I think they will, and if Vince plays like he did Sunday for the rest of the season, then I absolutely don't see any reason that he would be going anywhere if we can restructure his deal.

    That being said...it was 1 game and we're 1-6.

Honestly, call me a VY homer or whatever, but he's a lot more exciting to watch than KC (or most other quarterbacks for that matter). I had a lot of fun watching the game on Sunday.

He's definitely exciting when he's playing well and in rhythm. He's one of the most exciting players in the league when that's the case. The thing is, I'll take boring and effective over exciting and inconsistent all day. If Vince can play like he did, mistake free, and continue to improve then we will be fine. Especially if the coaching staff continues to cater to his natural abilities, which they did a VERY good job of and absolutely need credit for.

His biggest issues have been with consistency and decision making and it takes more then one game to prove that he's OK in those departments. I have hope after yesterday, but we'll see what he's really made of in a tough game against a good opponent.

My take on the whole situation is:

Vince didn't take being a QB in the NFL seriously after the 2007 season. Everything came naturally to him so he messed around in the off-season. He came back and got boo'd, then got hurt, benched and watched his team have success without him. On top of that (I think this is the biggest factor) he lost Steve McNair this offseason. Not only was Steve close to Vince, but Vince has now taken it upon himself to be a big brother and mentor to McNair's kids so he wants to set a good example.

He has a different look on the field now than he did 2 years ago, which is why I'm very hopeful that the change we saw is here to stay.

Yeah he seems to look way more confident before and after the snap. When he puts that mouthpiece in, you know its a over. If he has another good day against the niners defense then that would be great.

Let's not get carried away please.

Vince threw a gift wrapped interception to Derek Cox on the deep pass to Gage in the End Zone. Cox dropped an easy catch.

I'm not criticising I'm just asking for Vinces fans to stay level headed about him after one game.

His pass to Britt under pressure was an awesome play and his TD throw to Washington was pretty much perfect. His return to running without hesitancy as he did in 06 was also what I wanted to see. It kept a number of drives alive when Vince couldn't find an open receiver.

We even managed a successful screen pass which i was beginning to think had become extinct in in our playbook.

From what I saw Vince made a difference on Offence but it was also a team effort. Our whole team came out swinging. We barely lost our first three games and I blame Cecil for those losses.

Equally Cecil had a lot to do with our first win.

We didn't put the ball on the ground. That's the main reason for yesterdays succes.
No turnovers, no fumbles, no drops. It wasn't just VY or CJ, it was the entire offense.
The defense still has some slips, but it was quite an improvement from previous games.

Now that Jeff decided that he would win or lose with Vince, we will see the coaches gradually bring him along. Success came too easy for Vince his rookie season. Last year was his wake up call and I believe he knows it.

My prediction is he will show gradual improvement as the weeks progress and the Titans will finish 9-7. As Dion Sanders says Vince needs to "do what you do" to be successful.

9-7? So we're beating Indy or Arizona on the road? It's hard for me to imagine a team starting 0-6 and winding up with a winning record, sure would be nice though
