I believe that's "insanity" but we get your point. ;)

I wish you could have seen Cecil and Dinger on stage on the Fisher show Tuesday night. It was pretty much fluff but Cecil did say that Fisher does not override his calls during the game. Fisher might come to him while the offense is on the field to talk strategy but Cecil is making every call while the D is on the field.

Cecil did talk about the blitz and how rookie corners changes his approach with blitzing. He basically said it was making a tough coverage situation worse unless the blitz was getting to Brady before he got the ball out. On the most part, it wasn't and it led to big plays for the Pats each time.

He also talked about the big cushion and it being a better option than getting burned long.

So the guy basically admitted Brady had the short completion all game long even on third-and-short and was unwilling to put extra pressure on his rookie corners by playing them tighter or blitzing more often.

And what is the reason for doing it when Finnegan and Harper are in the game??

I get it now. SO if the WRs don't run the route we expect them to run they end up running wide open and we don't cover them. Brilliant. Look, I understand not getting to the passer quick enough but for guys to be that darn wide open someone has their head up their arse. We have DBs jumping expected routes? What kind of defense is that especially when you have nobody behind you? So the CB says; "he is going to run an out and I'm going to stop the out and get an int.....oops, he ran a fly. Dang I wish the DL got to the QB".

That would have been a good question.

I would assume it's the same reason. Both are solid tacklers if they can stop the play before it gets a first down. What we've seen too often is that a WR remains untouched on a timing route and they know where the gaps are in the zone. Or the slant is always there allowing the WR to catch the pass in stride and pick up the first.

Just like the offence it's too predictable.

We rank well against the run but it doesn't help us when teams don't need to run against us. Our D line is still lining up with the DE's very wide even though we aren't getting inside pressure.

When we're that wide I think it hurts us trying to blitz because the blitzer has further to go to get to the QB.

Great tutorial, Gut. Most of us see open receivers, and DB's looking like they're lost, but don't/can't understand why. Your explanations are a great help. Thanks.
