all these guys have won superbowl rings since Jeff was named head coach of the Oilers/Titans. I just don't see where Fisher gets the credit..

    BARRY SWITZER
    MIKE HOLMGREN
    MIKE SHANAHAN (2)
    DICK VERMEIL
    BRIAN BILLICK
    BILL BELICHICK (3)
    BILL COWHER
    TONY DUNGEY
    TOM COUGHLIN
    MIKE TOMLIN

Good point....I thought maybe it was cause he has won almost 55% of his games or because he has been able to manage 1 playoff win every 3 years.......and if you take away his 1 SB appearance ....he has 2 playoff wins in 14 years....not bad......

    You mean:

Barry Switzer- was the "warden" of National Champion's in Oklahoma and babysitter of Jimmy Johnson's Super Bowl Champions?

Mike Holmgren- who watched a Brett Favre improvised his was to a Super Bowl in Green Bay?

Mike Shanahan- the man who after riding the coat tails of John Elway to two Super Bowl wins, didn't win another playoff game after Elway retired?

Brian Billick- seems to me he had one of, if not, the greatest MLB in the history of the NFL. And, was the whipping boy of these message boards for how many years.

Bill Belichek- who without Tom Brady went 7-9 in Cleveland, suddenly turned himself into Vince Lombardi when he found Tom Brady?

Tony Dungy- That can be summed up in one word. Manning.

Tom Coughlin- His team got hot at the right time and beat a team in the Super Bowl that was due for loss.

As for Cowher and Tomlin? I'll just chalk those up to coaching the Steelers.

lol... nothing screams elite like mediocrity.
    he's 133-114
he hasnt won a playoff game since 03 and his last 3 playoff games were losses. in 15 years he's won 5 playoff games.... hall-o-fame awaits (sarcasm)

the fact of the matter is, joke fisher is considered one of the top coaches cause he's managed to keep his job for a very long time. you put him in 90% of the other franchises out there and he wouldnt have made it this long. period, end of story.
he has his "top" status cause mr.adams never canned him....

its been like this forever...a good season then a bad season then an average season then repeat

only the "good" coaches know how to string multiple good seasons together

if you would have told me in Week 9 last year that Fisher would be possibly fired in the 09 season, i would have laughed and said get the hell outta here. its sad that his career here will most likely be based on this season alone, but if you look at his WHOLE career, its nothing but ups and downs with no rings to show.

i respect Fish, and always will...but its time for a change.

Bingo !!! I honestly believe the ONLY reason why he's consider a top coach in many NFL conversations is because he's managed to keep his job as long as he has..something thats a rarety in the NFL. Also for most of his tenure his managed to not completely stink it up (like this season)..we've had a lot of average seasons..but not bad enough to ever put the spotlight on him. Now its shinning bright as ever !!

I'm not the type to bash Fisher. I had a lot of respect for the guy, and if I saw him on the streets the last thing I'd do is taunt the guy or throw losses at him. He's on the decline. It happens to everyone, and were all frustrated by the play of the team and how he leaves everyone clueless. But enough is enough I suppose, and I'm ready to go in another direction. I guess since our year is over and we'll likely stick with the sorriness in Collins I'm pulling for the Vikes as of now. Adrian Peterson is easy to cheer for and he has #4 at his side helping. Still a Titans fan til the day I die, but football season is too important to me for me to watch Fisher crash and burn on the S.S. Collins that is sinking as we speak. Go Titans and good bye season. Fisher you were a good coach, but not anymore.

Gee, did you just come up with the fact that good teams have good players as well as good coaches? Wish I would have thought of that...

Flipside, Fisher was only a good coach when he had McNair, George, etc.

Sometimes it not the Xs and the Os, but the joes and the moes. However, in this case it is just Chuck Cecil.
