I bet you could do better than Fisher (or most of the assistants) is(are) at the moment. :ha:

agree; It's time to start thinking outside the box. There is no use now in continuing to do what has proven to be unsuccessful. That is a mark of ineptness and a failure of insight.

Thinking outside the box...like not running a straight 4 man rush on defense the whole game despite the fact we were getting killed. Like splitting CJ out wide so if anything else he can be a decoy who can go long and flush that side of the field. Having CJ and LW in the back field at the same time must bring on some kind of curse we don't know about. Bottom line is these coaches are clueless. Heck, put 5 DL on the field at one time with Brown Haye (Jones if healthy) and Vickerson coming up the middle and Ford and Hayes coming around the end. Why let them bash your two DTs with three blockers and then we wonder why we get no push.

The pass on 3rd&1 is still driving me crazy. With all the off-target passes KFC has been tossing around this season we throw it downfield rather than letting LenDale try to pick up ONE measly yard. :hmm:

I've been kinda wondering about Cecil and his ability at DC but it just seems like week after week the entire coaching staff isn't getting their job done. With the exception of the fumbles which are the players fault everything else falls back onto the coaches. They choose who to play when and where and what plays to call.

    True.

Also though, maybe our players simply aren't as good as we thought they were. The question came up as whose loss hurt more, Cecil or Big Al. I still say Al because, his departure has forced Cecil to try and come up with slight mods to the scheme to still get pressure and none have worked consistently. Al's departure hurt the entire defense and we apparently dont have the personnel to correct it and adjust.

Griffin, Hope and Finnegan all owe their pro-bowls last year to Haynesworth's consistent pressure as far as I'm concerned.

Our outside linebackers are getting old and are slow.

Our d-linemen are undersized. Tony Brown makes the occasional play, but assuming he is back to 100% from his injury, KVB is flat out done.

Our O-line is a shadow of its former self.

Collins is showing his true self when forced to pass more and with less than stellar blocking.

Nate Washington is exactly who Pittsburgh fans say he was, sir Drops a Lot. He leads the team in TD's but the drive killing drops offset those plays.

This team stinks plain and simple. They keep saying they aren't playing up to their talent level, but sadly I believe they are, especially on defense.

Lastly this team has no leaders. I can only think of one guy in that locker room with heart and integrity who can legitimately say, ok guys follow me and we'll turn this thing around. That's Ahmard Hall, but sadly he is a fullback so doesn't have the on-field position of natural leadership. Kerry Collins can't do it and I don't see anybody on the defense taking that roll.

    lol @ The Wildcat.

Jeff Fisher probably doesn't even know what it is yet. And I'm dead serious. The guy hasn't ran a creative play when it mattered since 1999.

    Unfortunately...

    GOOD POST!!!

Outside of the Jags game, we should have beaten the Steelers...special teams cost us 6 pts and we lost by 3. Vs Texans, our D blew too many coverages that shouldn't happen on a High School team but still had our shot to win it. We came out completely flat against the Jets but played good D in the middle and had the lead...but special teams cost us 2 turnovers and our D didn't execute at key moments. We played a solid 28:55 minutes of football against the Colts before 2 dumb penalties and poor execution gave the Colts a TD and we never recovered. We could easily be 3-2 right now, but units and individual players have killed us at bad times and a lot of those players aren't new guys and didn't make these mistakes last year. So I'd disagree that the players aren't as good as we thought (maybe a few exceptions) because outside of the Jags game, we showed we can play with the other teams and even outplay for stretches.

I disagree. Last night we saw something we haven't seen much of this season - pressure from the front 4. I have to give Cecil credit for trying everything in the book. At times we had Hayes playing DT to try and get more pressure and the DL really stepped up except for those 2 killer penalties! They were needless penalties! The biggest problem we have at the moment (aside from trying to continue the pressure and eliminate the DUMB mistakes) is all the injuries in the secondary. We played a good chunk of the game without both starting CB's and our nickel back. That's a killer against the Colts.

Yes and no. They owe them to the scheme working effectively to their advantage.

Old - yes. Slower- yes. Slow - no.

TBrown has probably made more plays than anyone else on the DL except for MAYBE Jones...mainly because teams are frequently doubling TB and single blocking Jones. I was happy to see KVB get some good pressure last night but I think he needs to be traded for whatever we can get if it's a player we need (young CB, DE, LB, OC, OG) or a 4th or better draft pick. While he contributed last night, Ford has passed him and should start. I think we have enough with Ford, Hayes, Ball and Kearse and can even do some more with playing some DT's at DE like Jason Jones or TBrown. Vickerson also looked like a beast on the pass rush last night so we have the guys and I don't see KVB outplaying anyone else.

Watching game tape, this is a problem that hasn't really had much light shed on it. When we were able to keep teams playing run first and picking our spots, it really covered up some pass blocking issues. This year, with our run blocking significantly more inconsistent and us going way down in games forcing us to pass when the D knows it, our pass blocking is getting exposed.

Exactly. Again, when we can pick our spots, he can be as good as last year. When he's forced to carry the team with spotty pass blocking...his career numbers are the QB we're getting!

He has 2 problems. He gets the drops as we saw in the Jets game, didn't come hard back for the ball which cost us an int last night, and he's not much of a run blocker...further contributing to our lack of run blocking on the outside.

Hall was a MAJOR problem last night getting 2 holding calls on 2 plays. I didn't count how many plays he was in, but those penalties killed us and we NEEDED him to help pound the ball. Can't be a leader and kill your team...which is why we have a major problem. Most of the 'leaders' on the team are messing up big time...Mawae, Collins, Hope, KVB, Crumpler, Harper...

Bulluck stepped up a bit last night but also didn't make some plays we needed him to make. But he's the closest thing we have to a vet that's playing well!

This is why not having a Ray Lewis can really hurt your team. The Titans thought they had a lot of leaders, but a lot of them are the problem or contributing too much to the problem to be a 'follow me' type of guy!
