As of right now our Biggest problem is our secondary. We really need to get a really good CB in the draft. I would settle for a CB or DL in the first round and then pick up DL in the second round if we pick CB in the first. Rounds 3-7 would be Team Needs/Best Player Available. We really need to use round 6 or 7 for a punter. For a decent one at least.

LMAO that you use SD as and example of what we can do. They are like the laughing stock of the NFL in the playoffs, their coach will probably get fired at the end of the season this year. Neither the Ravens or the Steelers were as bad as we are going into week 5 and then facing 2 of the top 5 teams in the NFL the next two weeks.

BTW your facts are wrong anyway because the Chargers made the playoffs in the old system where you could make the playoffs with a worse record. Do you realize that last year the Colts barely made the playoffs with a 12-4 record?

I dunno. At this point, the QB draft class is still considered "weak." We'll see how it plays out. Lot of defensive players are top at the position from Suh, to Berry, to Dunlap, to Witherspoon. I know a QB makes a difference, but it's like I said the last couple of years - made no sense to draft a DT at our position last year - just wasn't a good one available - or a CB or whatever the year before (and another 'fooey' to everyone who thought we could "just grab" Chris Johnson in round two or three).

I would probably rather see Young extended and playing on $5-8M/year with not a lot guaranteed beyond a year or two, and draft one to develop in round two or below, and bring in a vet as well. Let it be an all out competition in camp.

I don't think the offense would be doing much worse with Young in there, and right now, the offense isn't really the problem. Next year, Young would be heading into his third in the system.

we don't have a second round pick, I highly doubt that waiting until rd 3 for a DL is our smartest move. Plus if VY flops then we at least have to address the QB situation next season. There are a lot of options, I am not saying draft a QB and forget the DB but it will be tricky. Here are some that might work...

    Trade CJ for a DL
Pick up a QB like Kolb
    Draft a DB like Berry

    Draft a DL
    Trade CJ for a QB
pick up a DB to hold us over until our 3 young ones step up

    Draft a QB early
Watch the top 5 QB not pay off like most in History.

Great post, this is the most logical thing that will happen. We will play out this year, start VY next season, draft a DL and try to sign as many of our starters as we can. (lendale isn't going to be one of those guys so CJ will not get traded)

LOL, that is if we ever win a game. If we are 0-8(which is very possible) then I think Fisher may have a job issue.(as he should) If that happens then who know what is next!

I agree however I don't think it is the best thing for the team.

I love watching him play but he is a small back who cuts a lot, very good chance of injury and he is amazing because of his speed. He has about 12-24 more months before he starts losing that and his performance will fall off. We have always had a 1000 yd rusher, there is no reason for us to tie ourselves to a guy when even Chris Brown proved he can run the ball for us.

    Heres some facts for you.

    Back in Playoffs - December 20, 1992
The Chargers clinch their first playoff berth since 1982 with a 36-14 win at the Los Angeles Raiders and make history as the only team to start 0-4 and make playoffs and have winning record.

    1992 San Diego Chargers

Franchise Index: Previous Season / Next Season

Record: 11-5-0, Finished 1st in AFC West Division
    NFL Season Summary

Scored 335 points (20.9/g), 9th of 28 in the NFL.
    Allowed 241 points (15.1/g), 4th.
    Differential of 94 points (5.9/g), 7th.
    Expected W-L: 11.0-5.0.

    Takeaway/Giveaway Differential +3 (0.2/g), 12th.

Like I said, that was in the old system of 5 team where it was easier to beat up on each other. Right now Indy is too far out in the lead in the south so the best we could get is a wildcard. This subject has been talked to death, only the NAIVE are still talking playoffs.
