Pocket passers vs scramblers

    I think it depends on the situation they're in, and also what they have to work with. For instance in 2006 we needed a scrambling QB to make plays, because we lacked weapons. Now we need a pocket passer. We have a great line to form a pocket and keep guys safe. So both can be successful, but pocket passers seem to go farther because they have more to work with.

    The way I've always looked at it... A scrambler generally has marginal at best passing skills, but is always an extra run threat on the field. Don't get me wrong, I get as excited as anyone when I see a QB tuck and run. Still, you can have any number of run threats on the field from other players. At any given time, you will only have one player that can really throw the ball. I prefer that player over an extra run threat. Gives the offense more dimensions.

    When did Ken Stabler become a running QB? He had 93 career rushing yards in like 15 years. For comparison sake Kerry Collins has around 650 rushing yards in his career.
