How about KC v VY for starter?

When you classify people as "Haters" do you feel that it is OK for people to classify you as a "Lover"?

Why would it be OK for "Lovers" to offer their opinions unsolicited but not OK for "Haters"? I do not personally like these labels.

Isnt a messageboard primarily about strangers giving their opinions to other strangers?

I never said you started this thread. I was referencing your thread in which you lauded Vince's new found maturity. I'm not going to lump you in with the more obvious huggers. It's all good.

 

He said that he has disdain for VY because he has disdain for a player that gets 20million dollars in guaranteed money and then doesn't attain close to a measure of success that that amount of money should require. It caught my ear because he didn't say he had disdain because he had bad experiences with VY as a reporter, i.e. VY snubbing him for interviews, or anything personal like that. No, he said he has "disdain" for VY because VY hasn't lived up to his potential. It was almost like hearing a fan (or somebody on GoTitans lol) complain about VY.

For a guy that is supposed to be a reporter/blogger to have that feeling to me is totally unprofessional. It makes it completely impossible to show any true objectivity regardless of what he may claim. Any person that reads Kuharsky's chats and hears him on The Zone will clearly see his bias against VY, how he almost relishes the opportunities to make jokes about him, etc. Frankly, as I said, I am extremely surprised that he went and admitted it on the radio. I think he would consider it a verbal slip and may come to regret it.

1. the opposite of 'hater' in this context is 'hugger'.
2. I'm not a VY hugger. I'm a realist.

It's not. Where in my statements did you perceive that I have that mindset?

It most certainly is. But that in no way makes one immune to being labelled one or the other if they make (sometimes senseless and asinine) posts that earn them that label.
One is just as free to label a member a hugger or hater just as much as the hugger or hater is free to make statements and posts.

 

He's criticized VY since he was in college, so why did he even expect him to live up to any expectations? He's retarded.

 

To answer Pastorini's other question, I think fans that hold VY in disdain do so for 3 reasons.

1) The same reason Kuharsky gave, him generally not living up to his potential and paycheck
2) The notion, and possibly reality, that he may have quit on the team
3) His sometimes bold speech and inability to back it up

I understand it to a point especially considering how fanatical people are about their sports teams. They want their players to go above and beyond, always give that extra effort, and when they fail, pick themselves up, dust themselves off and try again. VY at times in the past showed inability to do that and too much sensitivity.

The thing that bugs me now is people seemingly not wanting to give any credence to the notion that VY has possibly improved, and that he may be in the process of turning things around. There is very little acknowledgment of the positive plays he makes, or a better way of saying it may be acknowledgment of when he has properly done his job on a given play. Rather if a series of overall plays is unsuccessful people assume it was his fault and are ok with labeling him as garbage instead of analyzing the plays as a whole.

I said it before and I'll say it again. When I see VY on the field with the #1's then I will judge accordingly. So far in the preseason I've seen the O-line in front of him give up way too much pressure, I've seen running backs not pickup blitzes and drop catchable passes and I've seen WR's occasionally run a wrong route or give up on a route. And Ive seen VY throw some poor passes. The #2s overall on offense look like trash to me AS A UNIT, outside of Britt. I'd like to see what VY can do witht he #1's to truly get a sense of what he can do with players around him taking care of their responsibilities. But then again they sucked this past Friday so who knows...

 

You can't really tell where VY is until you see him in a reg. season game with the #1's, and an actual gamplan. He could suck with the #1's in preseason and it could be from him as well as no gameplan.

 

See, THIS is a perfect example of an exaggerated "hugger" post. I never said what you are saying I said here. I said Hawkins had to say he ran an incorrect route whether he did or not to protect Young from the media. To me, it's just another excuse for Young. Whether it's true or not is irrelevant to me.
