Bulluck vs. KVB. IF......if it comes down to resigning just one of these guys, who would you prefer? I know this could be a no-cap season, but it still comes down to money. How much money will these guys want in order to stay in Tennessee? The Titans gave KVB a second shot at the NFL. Will that help us at retaining him cheaper and keep him from going to another team for a little more money?
KVB still has the motor but it pains me to see the parts wearing out a little bit. I am to wonder how many years this guy has left. I also wonder if he'll be able to finish a full year. With the idea of pulling him out more frequently during the game, might preserve his motor. I see him having to put in more work because of Fat Alberts vacancy. If he can't play as much as he used to, his value should drop.
Bulluck isn't getting any younger but he's still a force to reckon with. He has a locker room presence that should be worth something. Have you ever seen a locker room interview that did not involve Bulluck? He runs that defense. He knows the defense. I see Bullucks motor wearing down also, but if a younger guy can not unseat him, then he's worth keeping but, at what price?

As for Kearse, I don't think he'll get any offers worth leaving his favorite team.

This will be a difficult and painful decision. I hope it is as painful and difficult for the front office. As for my choice, if KVB wants too much money, he'll play for another team next year. If he'll play cheap, he might get to stay with us. Bulluck is the man.

I think you are kinda underestimating what KVB means to the team also.

All the young guys look up to him as far as work ethic and everything. He is also a leader, but more by example.

Honestly, would love to have both back for at least 2 more seasons.

I voted for KVB, mostly because I think it is more likely that we'll keep him. Bulluck seems to plan on leaving, which most likely means that he's looking for a significant payday. It's a shame to lose either though. Wish we could keep both, but I don't think that we will.

Bulluck any day any time over KVB. Like he said KVB is getting hurt more and is starting to loose that motor. According to yahoo sports bulluck hasn't missed a game since the 01-02 season in which he missed 1. Yes his numbers have gone down the last two years but look at the defense the last two years. We have playmakers everywhere including the other OLB, Thorton. Easy pick... Bulluck!

Potentially both could end up back here next year. I vote for that. I feel both still have something to offer the next couple years if not just from a leadership role. We should draft for these positions obviously and the younger guys would benefit greatly from learning under these two keys to our defense.

If I had to choose though I would say Bullock for sure. I'm predicting his numbers will definitely see an increase this year with Haynesworth not stuffing the middle anymore. And yes he is more durable than KVB and though KVB is definitely a leader on the D-line imo Bullock is the leader of the entire defense.

    Well...

If I had to decide right now, I'd resign Bulluck but not for crazy money. KVB's status really depends on his play, his health and the play of the other DE's. Same with Bulluck though no one is subbing Bulluck out of any formation or defense. How they play, production, cost of replacement (the less they produce or less healthy they are, the closer there value is to their replacement), and how much they want for how long is how this goes.

The Titans will make them well paid if they want to stay short of them being injured or ineffective. But will they want their last huge pay day and willing to go to whatever team delivers it (ala Haynesworth).

Interestingly, in a better defense overall, it appeared that Bulluck had to work less than he has in the past and consequently, he eliminated some costly mistakes he used to make free lancing trying to 'help' a weaker player. KVB also had an easier time with AH next to him but he's gone now. KVB has also been having injury concerns. On the flip side, when he's been healthy he's been ripping off 12 sacks a pop!

Time will tell though Kearse is gone after this season if not before (though it's possible the Titans could keep Kearse if KVB goes so they only have to find one starter out of their other DE's). But IMO, Kearse is a luxury we can't afford now (though they may keep him for this season) and certainly not later. In fact, I think there are a handful of players the Titans should have tried to trade during the draft...even if it was to move up a few spots or mid-late draft picks. But that's another thread...
