According to Jim Wyatt's twitters, Ryan Mouton was injured in practice. He was down on the field for several minutes with what was clearly an ankle injury. He was carted off the field and unable to walk into the building once the cart arrived at the door.

    Sounds serious.

If it's just a severe sprain and nothing's broken, I don't see him being out for more than 4 weeks.

He's a rookie DB, more than 4 days is big for him. I hope he's alright, but he's no return man, hopefully I just informed the Titans of that & they never put him there again.

Mouton injury could thin Titans' secondary

    Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky
Bad news from Tennessee: Rookie cornerback Ryan Mouton was carted off the practice field this morning and it's unclear what the extent of the left ankle injury is or how long it will keep him out.

Here's Jim Wyatt's report.

Mouton, a third-rounder out of Hawaii, appeared to rank at the head of the line among four players bidding to be the Titans third corner. He was working behind nickelback Vincent Fuller, a safety, and started in place of the injured Fuller on Saturday night in the team's second preseason. He played in the third quarter outside.

Cornerback depth is one of the few roster issues for Tennessee.

Beyond Mouton, the Titans have veteran DeMarcus Faggins, signed as a free agent from Houston; Cary Williams, a seventh rounder from 2008; and Jason McCourty, a sixth-round rookie out of Rutgers.

The Titans are solid with All Pro Cortland Finnegan and Nick Harper as their starting corners, with Fuller as the nickel.

If Mouton is lost for a long time and none of the three candidates for depth show especially well in the three remaining preseason games, I expect the Titans to comb through corners cut elsewhere to try to bolster their depth in the days leading up to their Sept. 10 opener at Pittsburgh.

He seems optimistic about getting back on the field quickly. I'd assume it'll still be a few weeks though.
We're thin at DB and returner, so this isn't good but hopefully we either wont need him or someone else steps up. Possibly McCourty or Tanard Davis.

    Mouton Injured at Practice

SUMMARY: Rookie CB Ryan Mouton suffered a left ankle injury in Tuesday's morning practice and had to be carted off the field. "We’re checking on him," Coach Jeff Fisher said after practice. "I think it’s an ankle. I don’t know to what extent essentially." Mouton returned an interception last Saturday night 29 yards for a touchdown. He suffered the injury while defending receiver Phillip Morris in one-on-one drills.

If the Titans were not shopping for some CB depth before, they are now. I'd like to see the Titans add some experience.
