I wouldn't really call Tank Williams terrible. I thought he was okay. Of course, back when we were doing bad I was still much younger and if a guy made a few good plays I think I just considered him 'good'.

That to me is the bottom line. No Vince Young and we finish 2006 5-11 or worse, then Fisher is fired.

It was Fisher's call to start a QB with almost zero experience in our system. He would've taken the heat for it in the end.

(as others said though, it really isn't right to attribute all of saving Fisher's job to VY; but VY was a HUGE reason)

I saved Fisher's job... when firecoachfisher.com (or what ever it was) sprung up I fought tirelessly for his cause. I don't like to brag, but I have to set the record straight.

If Collins had completed the season as Starter, Fisher would've be CANNED! Like it or Not.

No, I agree. I pretty much said that in my earlier post:

no way, i agree with someone said that even if vy would have picked splinters that year he would have been given a pass for rebuilding with a rookie learning qb. At least thats the way it seems in my head.

I'm not sure what people actually saw in 2006 but even though we won some games down the stretch it wasn't all VY.

Our first win came in week 6 against the Skins. Henry ran for 178 yards.
The next game against the Texans Pacman ran back a 53 yard punt for a TD.
The Jags hammered us in the next game. VY looked like crap.
We lost by one the next week to the Ravens
We beat the Eagles after that. Henry had a 70 yard TD run and Pacman had 90 yd punt return TD.
The Giants helped us win because Kiwanuka forgot to tackle Young. pacman intercepts Manning to set up the winning FG
The next game against the Texans Young did have that nice TD run in overtime.
Remember the next game against the Jags. Pacman returns an int 83 yards. Finnegan picks up a fumble and runs 92 yards.
We beat the Bills the next week but were humiliated by the Pats to keep us out of the playoffs.

Bottom line is if you take away Pacman's ints and returns, Henry's running and Bironas hitting FGs all over the place that team doesn't come close to 500. IMO if Collins had stayed as the QB we might have won close to the same number of games.

I love Kerry and I don't like Vince, but there's no way we end up at .500 with Collins.

Our defense was pretty bad that year. Kerry wouldn't have stood a chance. Vince was the guy who had to carry our team.
