I thought yesterday they might make him an honorary captain for the team. I don't think his death will make anyone less focused. I think the person who will use it the most is Jeff Fisher, in terms of maybe wanting to get this Super Bowl business wrapped up this year, which I think is ours anyway. The real youngsters won't know anything of course, but I still expect the team to come after the title even more prepared than they did last year. That's the role I think Steve's tragic death will play in all of this.

That was Vince Young's mentor. I'd venture to guess if any young player finds some sort of "motivation" from this, it would be him.

But we're far away from finding peace in this situation. I'm sure of that.

McNair's death will make or break Vince, IMO. He owes it to his mentor to concentrate only on the game; the game that McNair loved so dearly.

    That's not what I said.

What I meant was, maybe this will shake the cobwebs loose for VY. And, now maybe he'll grow up a little bit.

If he can do that, everything else will take care of itself.

I think that this will motivate Vince Young. I do firmly believe that in these sort of situations, anyone can find the courage and strength to do anything...even Vince Young. We all know that Vince is a contender, I don't think that its debatable. But if and when his overall demeanor changes, I think that he can be a natural born leader. Does he want it bad enough? Only time will tell...

I don't see this tragic event having an effect on player motivation. I think athletes are either self motivated to get better or not. There is, however, a huge lesson here for the players regarding the company they keep when they are away from the game. And if it turns out Steve was killed with his own gun, then the players should examine whether carrying a gun is the safest choice for them. I hope nothing like this ever happens to one of the Titans ever again.
