I'm still in shock about McNair's death. I was at my brother-in-law's house when I saw them show a few of Steve's highlights on the TV - no volume - and I had no idea what was going on, but I thought it might be something bad. Those thoughts were quickly pushed from my mind as we continued to spend time with my wife's family. That night, I was in bed with two of my sons trying to get them to go to sleep when my wife came flying into the room to tell me that he had been murdered. I was half asleep then and I still feel half asleep now when I think about it.

McNair was my favorite football player. Ever. I've enjoyed watching plenty of players in my life but none of them come close to McNair. He made me love the Tennessee Titans. I was a casual fan before the Superbowl against the Rams - after watching him play in that game I became a die hard fanatic. I loved the way he played the game. I loved how he carried himself on the field and the way he interacted with his teammates. I loved that he never took the credit for a win and he always took the blame for a loss. There would be games where he played perfect football and the defense would lose the game or someone would fumble it away and he never pointed a finger. He just stood there and said he should have made more plays.

This is a big loss for the Titans and for the city of Nashville. He was one of the first true sports icons of this city and he died way too young. He will be missed.

Just horrid news. He was only on the Ravens for 2 seasons, did not play particularly well for us, and still made a deep impact on the city.

"Two things we learned from Steve were about his accuracy and poise," said Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, vacationing with his family in Muscle Shoals, Ala. "The bigger the game, the more poise Steve showed, and that led us to Joe. We had quarterbacks before with bigger arms and great intelligence, but not the combination that Steve had.

"Once we had the prototype, we saw the same qualities in Joe, that coolness under fire," Newsome said. "I'm saddened by all of this, sad for Steve's family. I'm speechless, but Steve made a major impact on this franchise for the short time he played here."

Matt Stover on Air, "He was the ultimate pro, the toughest guy I ever played with or against, and I've played with some of the best," Stover said. "But at the same time, he was a very gentle and sensitive guy. He respected everyone from the trainer to the waterboy to even a kicker. He was the ultimate team player." The Baltimore Sun

If I'm feeling pretty terrible I can only imagine how Titans fans and the city of Nashville are feeling. My deepest condolences to everyone on this board.

i have told this story before on the tomb, but steve is the reason i became a titans fan, i watched an alcorn state game on tv and just loved his play, as a younger fan i jumped ship on teams all the time but when the oilers drafted him i have been a oilers/titans fan everyday since, his final drive in the super bowl when he shook those 2 rams off and completed the pass is a play that i will never forget and made me become more than a fan, i just fell in love with the nfl and tennessee titans football. steve will be really missed in my household and i send my thoughts and prayers out to the mcnair family.

Wow... very moving press conference by Jeff Fisher....

Chris Sanders also brought me to tears after hearing him talk on 104.5 before the press conference.

If I could high five Brad Hopkins for his interview I would. To some people he may have come off a little to pissed off but he told it like it was. He was clearly bothered that the media seemed more interested in the affair then the actually death of Steve and I don't blame him. I understand the media has a job which is to get information and ask questions but they can be very insensitive at the worst times. Clearly yesterdays conference was to talk about Mcnair as a person and player not about his personal life. Everyone is still grieving over the loss but yet they still asked questions about this girl to the players that knew him like they were actually going to talk about it, unbelievable. Great speech by Fish and very touching, made me tear up everytime he said "the Steve Mcnair that I knew."
