Very true, but I'd still throw him in the top 5 just for who he is.

I'm not really aware of the best closers. I know Kobe, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce are all better closers, but I can't think of others.

Hmmm... Ben Gordon's pretty good in the clutch. Gilbert Arenas. Can't think of others, but most the elite players in the past were great in the clutch. Like they lived for those moments. I don't get that from Lebron though. He shies away and wants to pass, or just get fouled usually.

Duncan is very good in the clutch. Especially for a big

I've always thought the opposite. He's extremely passive in clutch moments. The one time he actually did hit a good clutch shot- Derek Fisher erased it on the other end to win the game.

I think he had like 1 three pointer after that to win a game. But usually in the 4th quarter, he starts playing like a bench player. Passing the ball out when he should be on the offensive.

Yea, I thought about Ben Gordon. He seems to be one of the better closers. I would like to say Gilbert Arenas, but he's an overrated bust.

How is Arenas an overrated bust? He was a second round pick who was probably top 5 until his knee injury.

Yea, no need to let a silly think like actual statistics get in the way of an uninformed opinion.

How about we look at this: http://www.82games.com/gamewinningshots.htm

That shows that no one in the league hit more game winning shots than Lebron. His percentage is a decent bit above average and better than many other notoriously clutch players such as your very own Kobe Bryant.

Or how about we look at what really matters, the last 5 minutes of close games. Check out these unbelievable statistics: http://www.82games.com/0809/08CLE9.HTM

Yes, that's not a typo, here are James clutch time statistics:

    56ppg, 61%efg

Of course, there was also no other player in the league that even comes close to Lebron's on court/off court production differential. That is the single best way to tell how much a player means to his team, imo. Here are some more stats:

Per 100 possessions, the Cavs scored 116.4 points versus 103.7 when he was sitting.
Per 100 possessions, the Cavs allowed 101.3 points versus 109.6 when he was sitting.

That is a point differential of a staggering 21 points per 100 possessions!!! I'd put that up against any player ever...

    Next.

One more stat for comparison's sake:

Grizzlies last year: 104 points scored, 109 points against per 100 possessions
Cavs sans LBJ last year: 104 points scored, 110 points against per 100 possessions

So the Grizzlies were better than the Cavaliers last year if LBJ wasn't playing. We won 24 games and they won what, 66?

So LBJ was effectively worth at least 42 wins last season.

But darn it, that value in the postseason just hasn't translated yet has it? No one is going to argue that he isn't VALUABLE to his team. Gilbert Arenas is VALUABLE to his team. Chris Paul is VALUABLE to his team. James is still in that company IMO; elite players who haven't won anything yet.

He's always injured and he was way over paid.
