for no reason at all I've suddenly had a change of heart about our buddy VY

Never said he was my savior but I would pick McDonalds over dog meat every day of the week.

Yes I did actually enjoy not worrying every time our QB drops back to pass that the ball might fly to some random DB, LB or even DE. I prefer consistently moving down the field and scoring TDs instead of getting to the ~35 not being able to handle the tighted up D because our QB had no clue what was going on and us settling for yet another FG.

Assuming your "300-500" yds per SEASON is accurate which it is not based on the current comparison. Total yards Passing + Rushing for Collins in '08 2,725; Young in '07 2,942. Total difference is 219 yard in favor of Young by 13.5 yrds per game. Or a little better then 10 yards per turn over. Now ask yourself if you would give up 10 yards per game to be sure you would give up the ball one less time per game. Considering field position achieved by the D and yards the ball is returned I would trade that without a doubt .... but I am not a well nm.

You know the biggest thing I enjoyed about the bland Collins offense? The extra 4.63 points per game and our D giving up almost 4 pts less a game. :suspect:

That is three field goals a game or as I call them a Young special.

Is that enough explanation why I would rather have Collins in than Young or would you like me to go on?

Yes and all you need to do to win a game is score more points then the other team ...

You make that sound so easy.

Turnover prone QB's tend to stay that way throughout their careers. Learning how to be a pro QB on the field doesn't help a young player in terms of turnovers.

Young inexperienced QB's run Vanilla offences until they show they can protect the ball.Coaches keep it simple with short passes and a strong running game.Flacco and Ryan last year for example.

As they improve they're asked to do more.

Unfortunately VY regressed with playing time rather than improved.Turnovers kill your defence by keeping them on the field.

We have a style of football that should VY win the job back or have to come in that he can be given vanilla plays to restore his confidence.

If it was that simple though and there are no real issues, why was KFC guaranteed the job of starting QB and given $15mill to do it?

That was good explanation and you took the time to break down the numbers which I only guessed at after a quick glance.

About TDs though... it's not like Collins is scoring more TDs than Young. Sure he had a couple more passing, but Young had more running. As far as the overall team's success... how much do you attribute to Collins being the starter verse CJ being such a playmaker last season?

That's a good point. However I think the additions of CJ (to keep defenses more honest), Nate Washington and Britt should help reduce those turnovers. A lot (not all) of Vince's INTs were balls he just threw up because no one would get open. At least with Nate I feel there's a chance he could get WIDE OPEN and even Vince would hit him. That and I feel more confident about our players making plays on the ball instead of doing nothing to fight for it.

Also I think Vince could learn that there are times to just throw it away, which could reduce the INTs as well.

What bothers me is everyone that bashes or straight hates on Vince Young, while KfC gets a pass, when the difference between the two is very little.

Trust me, defending VY isn't very fun. Of the friends I hang out with I'm the only one that still has some belief in VY. And that belief has diminished greatly even with me. To me, at least, VY has upside potential where I feel KfC has reached his limit.

And I'm sure most of the VY beef is less to do with his stats, and more his attitude at the start of 2008. As one of my friends jokingly says "Vince Young offended me."

if he would improve his TD/INT ratio he would be a decent qb. however, poor judgement will not allow this to happen...that and kfc is already the starter in nashville

i attribute most of the wins to collins...and here is why. he managed the game. he took control and made sure things ran the way they were supposed to go. he didnt get flustered and just start running or throwing the ball up for grabs because he didnt know what to do. he made smart decisions with the rock...and that is what you want from a qb. i am not saying CJ didnt help out...however when you have a field general doing what has to be done...it makes everyone else look good. in all honesty...do you really think VY could have won that bears game? (i know it is just one game however, do you think VY had the mental/emotional grade to win that game?)

that wont happen all the time...what will vy do the other 60 plays per game?

KFC has been though the ringer in his NFL career. and to see him where he is at right now is a great thing. i think there is more of a difference then what you say...the biggest being experience and maturity. granted the stats may be the same or close...but someone with that many years experience on the job has seen alot of things. and knows how to handle most things that come his way.

    then why do it :grrhee:

when the titans first drafted young i thought it was a good move. i watched the usc game and saw him do his thing...and it was really good...however...i didnt see him grow into a nfl qb. granted yes, he won ROY and that was really cool. but other then that it looked as if he was trying to still play college football not professional football. he has alot of athletic talent...there is no denying that. and i will never bash him for that...however...when you sell out your team and the city you play for..that is what i dont like. and i am sure that is what alot of people dont like. if VY does a complete 180 and starts being mature, professional, and awesome on the field...great..he will have the support of millions..i just dont think it will happen in tenn.

Good points. Intangibles such as leadership are not easy to measure, but I have no problem conceding that is the area VY could learn from KfC the most.

Not sure what you are looking for or getting at? Vince would handoff, QB scramble, throw passes? Or you mean besides Nate Washington and Britt? I guess throw to Cook,Scaife,Gage or handoff to LW?

VY has more talent than Collins. Collins just has the experience and mental toughness. He knows when to throw it away. He knows how to handle fan criticism. He knows how to command a huddle. (I also think VY can handle a huddle, but maybe not as well as Collins)

    Two reasons:

    1) 2006. Watching VY play live in 06' was really fun. VY turning the team around was one of the most amazing things I've seen happen in a Titans season. I still have some waning hope that it could happen like that or better again.

    2) The criticism he's received at gotitans by some has gone way beyond the line of humor or realism.

    victory is mine!!! hahaha :grrhee:

you were talking about vy hitting a wide open wr. however if they are covered he has issues getting the ball to them. so unless cook, scaife, gage are wide open i dont know if he would be able to hit them is what i am saying. or the fact he does have accuracy problems would make it hard to.

talent is a great thing to have...experience is better. you can have all the talent in the world, but if you dont have experince...it dont mean squat...

2006 was fun...but it is three years ago..time to move on. not trying to be mean but...would you hold on to an ex gf for three years...always pining for her to come back to you??? i dont think so...unless it was megan fox...but anyways... its in the past..leave it there.
