Just think, he was able to stand out at a failure of a program like South Carolina, while playing in arguably the best conference, while probably not being used enough in the horrible offense that Steve Spurrier runs.

he really hasn't been here that long. he was a 6th year senior when we drafted him out of texas because he had so many knee injuries.

    Scaife is the man....

I dont think recent indications should scare us. i think he will be a titan for yrs to come. I also think cook will be good in his first yr too but Scaife is the man. as a franchise player i rarely hear of the player comin to train w/ the team. Scaife is back with the titans and i dont feel its b/c hes scared of the competition eihter. no hes just a really good football player w/ really good heart.

i remember the yr we drafted him i had bought a fantasy magazine was in the US visitin. and i was lookin through it at the TE rankings. and it was the same yr i think that troupe was finally supposed to become a star, with troupe ranked pretty high...and kinny shortly after. than i was lookin at the later rankings (they dont giv reasons to draft them or explinations of the player...just names in a list sorta thing) than on the last page of the TE rankings i found another titans TE ....one i wasnt familiar w/ and was like whos this guy (and honostly i thought to myself we dont really need him...we got troupe n hes gonna be crazy; i was a huge troupe fan at the time btw as many of us were..heck that yr the mag cover refferred to him as "the next antonio gates" -- wow were we al wrong nyway). and they wrote a paragraph bout him (as they would for like a top 20 positional ranked player...) ima look for that mag later today. im interested to c what they said about him as i cant remmeber anything from the caption...this was what 4/5 yrs ago.

TEs are not expensive; and next yr w/ all these final yr players we are gonna have scary cap space (don forget the final yr is usually $$$$$$). so yeah lota players r gonna be free but in choosin to not sign albe we should be able (if we wnat to) to sign them all to appropriate deals...and like i said TEs are cheaper...

heres a thought...maybe they drafted cook to help take away from scaife's stats as of our current 3 TEs he's really the only 1 who catches...cook will spell scaife in certain situations. i also expect cook to line up (maybe not this yr i dunno we'll c) but ala gates style i expect to see him motion to the slot...and im a fan of TE's in the slot...too big for cbs...and 2 fast for LBs...serious damage)

Sorry, but I think he is back in camp because he saw we got a strong TE that would make him dispensible in the future. It guaruntees that we don't have to give him a long term deal, so he has no room to bargain--no leverage at all. He has to know he is being paid more than he is worth with the tender, i.e., he wouldn't get that money on the open market. Holding out doesn't help him at all with Cook in the fold and runs the risk that he gets cut and paid less when he is cut loose. This is not him showing his great character, but him realizing he can f-around any more. I don't think it is coincedence that he has a change of heart one day after we draft a very good TE.

So do we resign Scaife next year?.... or do we develop Cook this year and he becomes our starter next year.

It's all on how Scaife performs this season. He disappeared for the last few games of the season last year. He needs another big start because I think Cook will begin to get more opportunities as the season wears on.

I agree. Scaife will need to remind teams he can have a 100 yard game again.

I think the Titans could go ahead and sign him long-term. It doesn't preclude them from trading him after this season, while lowering his cap figure. I haven't ruled out that some team doesn't offer us a 2nd or 3rd for him before the season starts, say, during camp.

But the smart thing is to go through the season with Bo, and I think the Titans fully intend to do that. The only way I could see them moving him is packaged with Gage to acquire a better WR like Chad. And I think all those ships have sailed.

If someone offered us a 3rd, we should take it now. A second was dealt for TG, and Scaife is no TG. Our leverage will decrease once the season starts.

That being said, I think we don't get offered enough by anyone, and Scaife plays for us and then signs somewhere else.

I think Crumpler and Scaife will play this year then told to pacj up and hit the trail. Stevens and Cook will be our TE in 2010. Plus along with Britt, Gage, Washington, Johnson, and Ringer we will finally have an offense!
