I just remembered that this guy is on the team, which probably speaks to how little he contributed in 2008. Maybe it wasn't his fault. I didn't watch him closely, so it's possible he was making awesome blocks all the time and the coaches just decided to never pass the ball his way. I doubt it, though.

I am sure some of you guys can get me caught up to speed on Stevens. What's reasonable to expect from him this season? How will he be used? Is he a starter?

He was a 3rd round pick and the 6th tight end taken in 2008, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect him to contribute. He seems to be way behind guys like Dustin Keller, John Carlson and even Martellus Bennett in terms of his development and how vital he is to the offense.

Do we draft another tight end this year since we have so many picks?

.I hope we don't draft a TE on the first day. However a guy like Cornelius Ingram (sp?) would be interesting on the second day. We do need to look at the future and Alge will most likely be gone next year.

I guess if a TE is the BPA then they will pull the trigger. I look forward to watching preseason and seeing what some of the second year players can do

well, craig stevens had to play behind alge and bo, so he got absolutely no playing time last year other than our final game against indy. I think he'll be fine, he just needs a year or two to get to know the system and by the time we no longer need alge, which might be soon cause he can't separate.

His best attribute was that he was "a great blocker". Waste of a pick, and we all knew it. Blocking tight ends are great, if they can also catch.

I don't like to take 1-3rd players with the idea they will not play for a year or two. Stevens is a good blocking TE with some pass catching potential...but his bread and butter is as a blocker. He's probably more like Crumpler than Scaife if that helps.

Is he a starter? We won't know until he is or isn't. A lot depends on how the Titans handle Scaife's contract and Crumpler's. With Scaife and Crump theoretically playing in the last year of their contracts...we'll see what Stevens can do by next year at the latest.

About the only thing I remember about this guy is that early in the season he got into a game and blew a sure touchdown by failing to get both feet in bounds. It seems like we didn't see him much after that...

He's a 3rd round pick. FAR too early? We haven't even heard his name once since draft day. Not even making any buzz in practices.

You want a player like Stevens on your football team, not your fantasy team.
