I hate the word "grunge" there is no such thing as a subgenre called "grunge". That would be like saying Iggy Pop is grunge. Grunge was a lifestyle, not a genre of music. Nirvana was rock and roll and punk to their very roots.

Nobody ever brings up the fact that Teen Spirit is the exact same riff as Godzilla...

I will always have a little special hate place for Nirvana. They totally destroyed the best type of music ever made.....Hair Metal. So I say Kurt who?!

Hair Metal destroyed itself. Nirvana was just there to take the baton.

No it was really peaking at that time. I think Nirvana just opened the flood gates for all that other riff raff like Pearl Jam that floated in with it and Hair bands couldn't compete anymore. That next generation of kids took us over.

Peaking.. isn't that a city in China? Hair Metal was at the end of it's 10 year cycle and was becoming absolutely ridiculous at that point. Nirvana was blue-collar and people were ready for that change away from pretty boys in striped spandex pants.

Right like I said that next generation took it over. Queensryche, Motley, and bands like that were selling out arenas when Nirvana hit then it just fell off almost over night. That type of music is just my thing. I grew up on it and I still listen to and go see those same bands. I'm all about Mudvayne, Slot, and bands like that today but nothing will ever compare to that kind of music again.
