I think he's an idiot.Something good is going on in Nashville and he isn't part of it.

Here's my concern,'He said he's staying in touch with quarterback Vince Young'.That's just about the worst role model he could find on the team.

Well, speed correlates to his genetic abilities, and his relative strength (to weight) and coordination. So, it really is very important for a running back to achieve a great leg overall-power, and speed-power, while maintaining great coordination and balance. I think his achievement on the field correlates a lot with his achievements at speed training and the different leg powers. This is a must for all nfl players, but specially for RBs.

Sure CJ can do all the conditioning with a trainer in Orlando and be just as prepared as if he worked out in Nashville. And personally I really have no doubt that he will show up ready and in shape.

But this is really more about committing to the team through your actions rather then doing whats convenient and familiar. I don't really care if you're the nfl's nr.1 workout warrior I'd still want you showing up for my voluntary workouts if for nothing else but to raise the bar for the less motivated people in that weight room. One motivating player is far more valuable then a motivating trainer.
What you don't want is a locker room where the consensus becomes that it's just fine and dandy for people work out on their own instead of coming to the voluntary workouts.

Maybe he wants better than that.

Teams should think of a "middle" solution, to separate the working warriors from the skippers. Let players bring their own Pts to Baptist Sports... and no more excuses, so you see the "nature" of the skipping

I agree with those that say this choice is indicative of a "me-first" attitude. We'll see more problems from this personality trait down in the future.

Yes- he probably will be every bit as "in shape" working out in Orlando as Nashville. But the benefit is that his team mates, and in particular his offensive line, will SEE HIM MAKING SACRIFICES for the team. Anybody who doesn't understand the motivational power and bonds that are created when a "star" player is making the SAME sacrifices as the "grunts", has never played on a team.

I bet this choice effects one or two plays where an O-lineman is faced with a choice to sacrifice his body or not to create a little more space for CJ. That is "chemistry" is about and it is that type of mentality which is the real benefit of these "voluntary" workouts.

Why are you questioning CJ's work ethic, because hes not participating in voluntary workouts? IMO i dont it's fair to question his heart because he left a game with an injury that no one knows what the severity was. Sure we can all speculate and assume that it was just an ankle sprain and that he should of just taped it up and played espically because it was a playoff game but know one really knows. The fact that he reported that he's not even 100% yet and its April has to give some indication that the injury was serious considering it happened in Jan. I can see if he was a bust or didnt have a great year then i could see the reason for him being there but he racked up close to 1500 all purpose yards as a rook just shows that hes no slouch. Give the kid a break

We were having this same basic discussion last year when VY decided to return to Austin for "classes". We all know how that worked out. I hope this is a case of "birds of a feather, flocking together".

How many games did he miss due to injury in those two years? And what was the effect of that? Funny, he skipped the voluntaries at the point the Titans changed the routine and got over the injury hump.

Yeah, he did just fine in the end...for himself. That's the point, get it?

Not a big deal with CJ yet, but I'd rather not see it get started at all.
