It's hard to start a PBS thread without seeming a little pretentious, but WTF. I watch more PBS than all other US Network television combined; they've got some amazing programming. I've often thought about starting a thread after watching a specific program, but just haven't found the motivation. I thought having a thread devoted to PBS would make it easier in the future when something cool airs.

Up tonight is another two installments of "Make 'em Laugh" The Funny Business of America". Last weeks episodes featured, slapstick and controversial comedians.... it was pretty cool. The first episode tonight is supposed to feature the "wiseguys" of comedy.

Did anyone watch the recent "The Story of India" series? I was completely enthralled. I swear, the more I learn about India the more interested I become. There's definitely a trip there in my future.

I'm a big fan of the show History Detectives (I've got a thing for host Elise Luray) but really, with shows like Nova, Frontline, The American Experience etc... it's hard to pick a favourite.

If you see something interesting is about to air on the "peebs", please throw up a post to give the rest of us a heads up. I'm an absent minded guy, and am constantly missing really great stuff.

indigo coloured font is indigroovy

Does Nashville even have traditional PBS? I catch NPT from time to time.
Hell to be honest, aside from HBO and a coupla prime time shows all I watch these days is Man vs Wild and Survivorman

Damn, that sucks. We get the PBSHD feed from Buffalo. Does your cable provider/satellite company not offer HDPBS?

The "Make 'em Laugh" shows have been impressive. Lots of archival footage and interviews.

Earlier this week Nova had a great show on the migrating North American monarch butterfly. What a amazing little critter... we get them up here at the start of their journey. They showed their migratory point in Texas where hundreds of thousands of the monarchs fly through in the fall. A truly impressive sight... it'd probably freak me out in person.

I don't watch PBS a whole lot, but I am taping two shows tonight. One is "Forgotten Ellis Island" and the other is "American Experience: The Polio Crusade." My wife also used to tape "Front Line" but for some reason stopped.

Saw a very good PBS program the other day: Memories of Opryland.

It was produced by the Nashville affiliate and it brought to mind some great times.

That's where I first saw Carl Sagan's Cosmos when I was a kid. The best series of all time as far as science goes. I don't watch it much these days because of Discovery, History, and NGC.

I watch for NewsHour sometimes when I feel out of the loop of news, national and abroad. I also like some of their music specials, like the Dylan, Orbison, Springsteen, etc. I used to watch Faulty Towers waaaay back in the day when they had that on.
