My wife got me a AZ/EQ Reflector telescope.

Im having trouble figuring out the Latitude and Azimuth.

The manual says once i find and align the North Star and set the Latitude that i would never have to move the Latitude again. But that doesnt make sense cause all stars and planets have different Latitudes. How can you find other space object if you do not move the Latitude?

Anyone know about this sort of thing that could explain it?

I bought my daughter a telescope. All see does is aim it towards something worthwhile and that's it. Yours must be an expensive one, because she just points then looks up. Got hers from TOYSRUS

It isnt easy finding a planet in the sky if you cant see it with the naked eye.

thats where you have to understand the Coordinates, from what ive found out all Coordinates are messured from the North Star cause it never moves and thats what they base everything from. Tonight at 8pm Saturns Coordinates will be Altitude: 26 03' Azimuth: 105 55'.

The North Star (Polaris) from my location has an Altitude of 41 . And my manual says not to move the Altitude so how am i going to see Saturn if it's at 26 degree Altitude and my telescope is set on 41 degrees? ?

Saturn rises at 6:02 pm tonight sets at 6am tomo morning.

    heres the one i got.

I use it to look at heavenly bodies. You use it to look at planets? Weird.

Saturn is great, but don't bother trying to find Uranus. It's hard as hell to see, and it stinks!
