    Um...

What do you mean by when it counted? Don't all the games count equally? But if you're referring to the last 3 games...eliminate the last one from the discussion. Cutler nor Brady nor Manning is gonna drop 53 points if they had Cutler's D. That leaves 2 games. In one he had a mediocre game and the other he played very well. So I guess he CAN play well 'down the stretch.' Or if you wanna look at it another way...his QB rating was something like 94 in the 4th qrtr this year. Is that what you mean by down the stretch?

How many rookie QB's come into the NFL and START with a QB rating of 88?

Which of these QB's is better than Cutler...

    Phillip Rivers
    Eli Manning
    Jim Kelly
    Warren Moon
    Peyton Manning
    Drew Brees
    Matt Ryan
    Ben Roethlesberger
    Kerry Collins
    Joe Flacco

Take Cutler off that team and they are lucky to win 4 games. I am not saying Cutler is magnificent, I am saying that he was asked to do more for his team than probably any other QB in the league outside of Manning, Warner, and maybe Brees. Of course, those are veteran guys while Cutler was in his
3rd season. And say what you want about YPC. The Broncos had the 5th fewest rushing attempts in the league, and the 3rd most pass attempts in the league. It was clear the offense (and team) went through Cutler, not through running backs who are facing defenses who were far more concerned about the pass than they were about the rush.

Randy Johnson pitched pretty well as a Yankee. His stats were down because he pitched in a park that couldn't control his flyball tendencies (doubled his HRs), switching to the AL lowers all pitchers strikeout rates, and the Yankees defense was terrible in his second year. This small market/big market thing usually provides a neat excuse where deeper analysis can be used. For some people, however, it is probably true. I don't totally disagree, I just think it's hard to quantify and overblown
I agree with you, up 'till the meltdown. But who knows? I guess we'll never know, till it happens.

    Jose...

First off, I watched probably every one of his starts. But aside from opinion, the stats back my claim. Consider...

His year before coming to the Yankees, he gave up 177 hits, 18 HR's, bb'd 44 and K'd 290 in 245.7 innings with a 2.60 ERA. With the Yankees the next season, he gave up 207 hits (up 30 in 20 FEWER INNINGS), nearly doubled the HR's given up (32 in 20 fewer innings), 47 bb's and 211 ks. So he gave up a lot more hits, more walks, fewer K's, a lot more homeruns, and an era almost 1.2 runs higher per game (3.79). All of his stats got worse...noticeably. The following year he continued his downward trend and finished with an era of 5!!!

I'll say it's either with the Jets or the Broncos... I'm still pretty undecided though because I'm not sure the Broncos will be satisfied with what the Jets have to offer... which happens to be nothing other than draft picks.

Johnson hasnt become dominate since going back to a small market. His era was 3.91 last year, which was higher than his first year with the Yankees. But you are way over analyzing Johnson anyway. He is getting older, so obviously his skills are going to erode, but the AL is simply a better league than the NL, so obviously a pitchers stats are going to be better in the NL. That has nothing to do with small market vs. large market, it has to do with facing better hitters plus a DH.

And the Cutler thing Im not sure I buy either. His issues arent with the media and he never seemed to have issues with coaches or the media before this incident. I see no reason why he couldnt deal with the NY media and fan base. Obviously, I could be wrong on that, but I dont think a disagreement with one coach should define the personality of a player.

I was listening to Mcclain today on 104.5 and McClain indicated the Titans have no interest in Cutler. Not that McClain is always right, but he is in tune with the organization. I just don't get it if the Titans arent' going after Cutler. We know that collins is a 1-2yr solution at most and then we're looking for a new QB. (In my view VY is not the QB of future for the Titans.)

I don't see how the Titans could not be thinking QB-of-the-future right now. Whether it's Cutler, a QB we draft, or a young FA that we bring into and groom. Bottom line QB-of-the-future is going to be priority #1 at the end of this year if we don't address it this year.

I don't want to turn this into a baseball debate but I think I already identified the reasons each of those factors happened to prove it wasn't the New York Media. To recap: Homers=smaller park, Strikeouts/walks=age, harder league, Hits=bad Yankees defense. PM me if you want me to explain more.
