I tend to agree with Mike Greenberg and think that the Jets do look like they have a good shot at landing ole Cutler.

I don't think he gets traded unless someone gives up a couple of first-round picks and probably more. Maybe the Jets do this but I doubt it. I think Denver will end up keeping him.

Denver aren't going to trade him unless they get a starting caliber QB in return. They have already stated draft picks alone isn't enough.

    Cincinatti is one possibility.

If a team like Detroit was to get involved, they would need to rope in a 3rd team that has a starting-caliber QB. I keep coming back to Arizona. They wouldn't be interested in a straight up trade for Cutler because they have Warner under contract for 2 more years, but what about a 3-way deal where:

Arizona gets Detroit's 1st round pick (#20) and 3rd round pick
Denver gets Matt Leinart and Arizona's original #1 (#31)
    Detroit gets Jay Cutler

    Um...

Cincinati's not getting rid of Carson Palmer for Jay Cutler.

How would anyone give Arizona a 1st and 3rd for Matt Leinart? And Denver wouldn't take Leinhart who hasn't even looked that good on his own team.

Althought the Jets could really use him, I can't see Cutler being able to handle the NY media if he can't handle a little turmoil in Denver. Plus, Ryan likes tough guys...ain't happening.

That leaves Tampa Bay, Browns, Lions, Bears, Vikings and Titans by my calculation. Tampa Bay doesn't have a starting QB to give and neither do the Lions really. Plus, Cutler wouldn't want to go there...though McDaniels could send him there anyway out of spite. I'll keep Detroit in it mainly because that first overall is worth a lot. TB could stay in it IF they could work a deal with another team for that team's starting QB. Unlikely.

Realistically, the Bears don't like to pay big money to a QB as would happen with Cutler though they do have a young QB to give back in Orton (assuming McDaniels thinks more of Orton than Bears fans do). The Vikings might be the most willing team...they have the D and the RB, but not the QB. But do they have the cap for this and can they give enough?

The Titans are attractive because he lives here, the Titans have a QB to give back for the next 2 years..perfect for mentoring a young draft pick, and he'd fit in with a smaller media market. Still, Collins may not want to move and the Titans may not want to annoy him...

His landing spot is likely whichever team gives them the best offer though Cutler could draw this thing out by forcing the trading team to redo his contract for big money which means he could - in effect - veto a trade to anywhere he doesn't want to play....meaning...you can cross off TB, the Browns, and the Lions. Vikings, Bears, or Titans...oh my!

    Follow the logic Gut.

Detroit are giving up a late 1 and a 3, and in return they get Cutler.

Arizona are essentially giving up Leinart and their 31st pick to move up 11 spots in round 1 and get a 3rd round pick (1st pick in the 3rd rd).

Denver give up Jay Cutler and get Leinart and the 31st pick in return.

Purely hypothetical on my part and probably 1,000,000 to 1 to ever happen.

Also, just listening to St Louis sports radio and they are talking that there may be some interest by the Rams to ship Bulger and a draft pick to Denver to get Cutler.

As much as Cutler hates it, Denver is in the driver's seat here. Like him or hate him, they have a young Franchise QB. Without him last year, the Broncos are probably equal to the Chiefs and Raiders. With him, they were on the verge of the playoffs. There is NO WAY that Denver give Cutler away for just draft picks and go into a new season with Chris Simms as their starting QB. They need to win games (even more so, now that McDaniels has made this splash) and Cutler gives them the best chance of doing so.

You know, this time last year Chad Johnson and Anquan Boldin were "demanding" to be traded as well.

    Umm....

Here are the values you assert...

    Detroit)(get)Cutler= a late 1 and an early 3(gave)
    Arizona)(gave)Cutler= Leinhart and the 31st pick(get)
    Denver)(get)Leinart and 31st=Cutler(gave)

In this, Leinart must be equal to a late first rnd pick...around pick 30 while Cutler is worth more. The PROBLEM is that Cutler is worth MUCH more than Leinart and since Leinart hasn't even started a full season and getting paid MORE than Cutler, this is a non-starter. Denver's not gonna take Leinart back just like they wouldn't take VY (who probably has more starts and a better record than Leinart). If Leinart had established himself, this could be doable. Since he hasn't, it's not.

Good attempt though! I think a team will end up giving either a much higher #1 plus a starting QB no worse than Derek Anderson/Kyle Orton or a first and 2nd or 3rd and a vet QB ala Collins who can be a quality starter while a franchise QB is drafted and groomed.

The Bears, Vikings, Browns, and Detroit make the most sense though Tenn's not far behind except that we aren't desperate for a new starter like the other teams are.

I can promise you that no team within the same division of a potential Cutler landing team wants to have to face this guy twice a year. The loose talks of him coming to TN, which I do not think will happen, has to put fear into the eyes of Hou,Ind,Jax.
