Notable Combine Performances

I think he takes plays off... There's no doubt he is a great athlete, and if Coach Washburn could motivate him, he could be an excellent pass rusher, but most many of the guys who take plays off now, will take off plays in the league. Here are some exerpts from a few scouts on Johnson:

Blessed with rare size, long arms and the burst off the snap to generate an instant pass rush off the edge, Johnson has exciting potential. To this point, however, that's mostly what Johnson has been -- potential. He garnered first-team All-ACC honors as a senior with 17.5 TFL and nine sacks but his play was spotty. A lot of his numbers were amassed against poor competition.


Is an unfinished product who needs to be more consistent in his technique and effort. ... May be relegated to a role as a pass-rush specialist at defensive end until he gains more strength. ... Too often relies on his speed to the outside to generate his pass rush, losing all gap responsibility. ... Inconsistent in his explosiveness off the ball and as a tackler. ... Has the speed and length to make life difficult for NFL tackles but must give more constant effort. ... Washed out when blockers (even smaller tight ends) get into his pads; his height is a detriment in those situations. ... Tends to stand around too much instead of chasing plays. ... Johnson has struggled with various injuries over his career.

Even though scouts are concerned about Johnson's marginal strength and inconsistent play, it only takes one team falling in love with his freakish blend of size (6-7, 266) and athleticism to make him a first-round pick

 

Some of you must be smoking something. What would a TE prospect have in common with bill gates? Does he own a software company or something? And i don't care how michael jackson performed in a combine i don't want a pedophile playing for the titans!

 

Why is it an accomplishment for bey to finish 10th in the cone and 9th in the shuttle? I would think he should have done better than that. Not impressed.


Keglar's times last year were superior and he is a 240 lb linebacker.

 

I want Sean Smith or Nicks round 1.

And Michael Johnson is ok. That's all. I hyped the hell out of Tashard Choice. I'm hyping Morgan Burnett already. Michael Johnson? Couldn't possibly care less.

 

When I watched the TE at the combine the one that stood out to me was James Casey because he was freaking Chizzled. He is not someone I would take before the 3rd or 4th round but I think he has a damn good career, reminds me of Frank Wycheck.

I still think the best TE is Coffman from Missouri but Casey is going to be a guy that will do a lot more, including play fullback.
