They never did let him line up at WR and run a deep route during a game, he could have gotten 5-10 yards on any defender. did they not do it cause he has bad hands?

i notice he dropped at least 50% of the quick dump passes that went his way during the season.

i'd like to see him used as a WR. he would be wide open.

I did see him drop a few short passes, maybe he had the jitters.

he didn't have good hands for a stretch of the season, that's for sure.

Heading into last year's draft, virtually every article and profile I read about CJ mentioned how reliable his hands were, and how effective he was as a receiver. I seriously doubt he suddenly forgot how to catch.

I suspect it was probably just rookie mistakes....taking his eye off the ball to look upfield, turning to run before securing the catch.....that sort of thing.

I fully expect this to be an area they focus on this offseason. A few of those drops would have been huge plays, had he just caught the ball. He may be the most dangerous player in the NFL with a ball in his hands; I shudder to think how scary he'll be once he starts catching it more consistently.

I wondered what every scouting report was talking about when they mentioned his hands. He can't catch. I think it's more him being scared of the hit than his actual hands, but regardless- he never showed he could catch. Too bad, but I guess you can't ask for it all.

I think thats the main reason. I think his hands are pretty good for a RB. Better than LenDale's i'm sure about that.

Regardless, I wish McCareins had hands 1/2 as good.

    Um...

Yes and no. I don't think he has the hands we were told he had...but I agree a lot of his drops were him trying to do something before securing the ball or wondering if he was getting lined up for a knockout shot!

However, he did have 42-43 catches and caught more passes than any WR on the team...so what does that tell you?

CJ catching more passes than any of our WR's is pretty bad but doesn't say much considering we really don't have a great WR. We need a number one WR
