I hate to get into to it, but we went to the playoffs without him in 2007.

I still have the feeling that Al will go to another team and be average

I blame the losses without Haynesworth to the lack of adjustment and depth
sure, he's good..and can be dominant as well. but his knack for injury and the timespan he's out gives me pause to pay him that kind of coin

Win with Vince, win without Haynesworth...it all doesn't matter. We know we can't win with the ball in Alge's hands.

Haynesworth is the answer. Young would be given first crack at the #1 QB position and be on a very short leash.

The only thing I need to know is we lost the three games without Haynesworth in 2007. The Steeler game was flukey in that respect. We're better of with him than without him. I agree with Puck that AH on another team, especially a non-contender, I should say, would sink back to his averageness. But post-Gurode in Tennessee, I think it's a different story.

Bull****. Baltimore didn't do near as well against them in the p/o game, and their defense is just as good as ours. And if you want to get technical, we had our backups in during that game.
Their O had 374 yards against us, but only 14 points to show for it. They had 275 yards against Balti and scored 23 points on them. Baltimore may have held them to almost 100 less yards, but they got scored on more.
So please don't sit there and tell anyone that we can't use the Pitt game as a measuring stick.
You do realize that not only Al was out for that game, but so was KVB. You do know that, right?

Except our defense full of backups that game held their 'get the ball in the endzone on any play' offense to 14 points.

Really? From your comments above, it looks like you're taking a LOT away from Jones and Brown (and you forgot Dave Ball, Jacob Ford and William Hayes).
And yes, Al should have won MVP but this is a narrow minded league that only cares about sack count when it comes to determining a defensive player of the year.

As for the bold, fair enough. But if that's how it's going to be, then we all need to get used to no more than a deep playoff run in any given year.
We will go no farther than we have w/o some sort of WR that can make plays. Even Gage is almost to that point if he could step it up just a bit more.
And as much as we need a playmaker WR, we do NOT need a WR like JMac who can't make regular plays when needed. Those kinds of players hurt the team just as much as a playmaker helps.

WRONG!!! Our lack of discipline that led us to 89 penalty yards cost us the game. You cannot accrue that many penalty yards in one game and expect to win. Look at AZ. They apparently didn't get that memo from us when we lost in that manner, then went on to lose the SB in pretty much the same manner.

89 penalty yards cost us that game.

True, but an inept offense will trump that (one exception being the 2000 Ravens).
It's funny how teams with high powered offenses (i.e. Colts, Pats) can win SBs but Fisherball can't.
Sure, most other teams that win the SB have championship level defenses, but they also have offenses that can score at will.

Our backups also got torn up by Jim Sorgi.
