VY was going to start no matter what after he gained the reigns in 06. Fisher got lucky as hell with the injury so he could finally take VY out and sit him down to work on his mechanics and mental game. What came out of it was the drama and immaturity, silver lining to the injury. Hopefully, VY will mature from this episode and become a harder worker in/out of the practice field.

Unless you attended every training camp session, it's difficult to know just how he did compared to the previous year, isn't it? I went a number of times and you can still get to my reports. He had his problems but no more than what I saw from Collins. And, at times, he looked outstanding. But this is based on just the 6-8 sessions I attended. He clearly didn't show much in the preseason games but neither did Collins.

Remember, Young was mainly facing Finnegan/Harper/Fuller while Collins was facing Hill/King/Carr in training camp.

Regardless, I see your point and totally agree that if Young doesn't show the dedication to be the starting Titans QB THIS offseason, I don't see how anyone can look any further than Young for his lack of improvement.

This is make or break and, honestly, if he can't outplay Collins, then I don't see him in the league in 2010 and beyond.

Ouch....but what if VY makes a whole bunch of plays in TC and Preseason strictly using his legs? If KFC has a mediocre Preseason and VY creates with his legs but still shows poor passing and decision making skills, does that mean he outplayed KFC? Many VY advocates will say he is better and can do more, but really we're looking at the same guy who led the team as a rookie.

..and the same guy who looks lost or completely frustrated during regular season games and including a playoff game.

As his contract balloons so should his performance and value to the team.

For the record, I hope he does show us all something spectacular. We certainly needed more offensive playmakers (besides CJ) our last game. I don't really have a dog in the Collins versus Young fight except to say that we didn't spend a #3 overall pick on Collins.

I have very little faith in VY. His attitude is that of a four yr old which to me is the biggest let-down. I seriously don't see an advantage to giving him the starting job. I really don't think he can grasp NFL style playbooks and I don't think he really cares. I don't see any passion out of him. It was there in his rookie year but he's lost it somewhere. I can't stand players that pout and he's a bigtime pouter. Aside from attitude and poor comprehension, his mechanics are bad... His delivery is terrible, he's predictable, and he stairs down his recievers. On the upside.... He's generally the best athlete on the field. He's fast and strong and you can't teach that. I would think by now Fish has a pretty good bead on how good VY really is, which is why he wants Collins back.

At this point, he's got to be able to do more than run. He has to be making the right decisions and show more accuracy and better timing. This really has nothing to do with his talents but the mental aspects of the game.

Honestly, if the Titans had the opportunity to choose from every NFL QB who started a game in '08, where would Collins fall? I would be willing to bet no higher than 15th. And if you put some of the young guys in there with upside, it might drop further. Point being, if Young can't be as good as half of the league's QBs in his fourth season, it makes little sense to think he's the future and his contract will dictate the experiment will end.
