It's amazing the Titans have been as successful as they were with two early first-round picks not contributing. Usually, if an early first-round pick doesn't improve the team, the effects of that linger for a few seasons.

I agree with you there... But think about all the 1st and 2nd round picks that we've have that have busted over the years. I'm surprised we're good at all...

Jeff Fisher played defense in his pro career and that's how he coaches. Going back to our Super Bowl team in 1999, defense has always been our strength. Defense has always won our games, with bright spots here and there from our offense. Jeff likes controlled "power" ball. He always talked about Eddie George getting "violent" yards with power running. He likes CJ's finesse runs, but he LOVES the big bullying runs of Lendale.

The last time the Titans went after "big name" receivers was when my Daddy Floyd Reese was running things. Who can forget Thigpen and Pickens? Those two receivers brought the promise of big things and delivered injuries and non-achievement. Now Fisher basically runs things, so receivers are very low of a priority. I'd bet my Christmas diamond necklace, that if Hines Ward or Anquan Boldin became free agents the Titans wouldn't even sniff their way. We luck up on productive WRs. Fisher picks up free agent WRs on the cheap, and hope that they can run good routes and catch a ball. I mean really, Williams from Detroit! What self respecting WR lets his body go like that? WRs are borderline gay with their obsession to stay lean and fast. They're all prima donnas, even tough guy Hines Ward. Fisher proved where his loves lie by drafting a running back.

I'm getting a little impatient of drafting WR and waiting for them to become the next DMASE. I understand its a process and it takes times but since he left, nobody has stepped up and established themselves as the "#1" guy. Gage is the only WR who has come close and he came from another team. Its hard to find a WR thats going to come in right away and make an immediate impact on a team, dont get me wrong it happens just not with Tennessee. With the Titans history of drafting WR as of late, i rather pay for a guy whos already established themselves as a quality WR looking to play for a contender. Maybe this year they find that diamond in the rough, but i'm not holding my breathe

Not to hijack a thread here, but is there any news on how Roydell's ankle injury recovered and if the Titans are going to try to bring him back. I thought he was developing into something as good as anything else we have on the field now. Gage/healthy Roydell > Gage/JMac fwiw

If we don't draft a quality name WR this year like Harvin or whoever is available in the 1st round, I will be dissapointed. We need some receivers most of all. It probably won;t happen but one can only dream.

The David Givens signing makes your rant erroneous. The push for Stallworth does too.

Harvin is not going to be a quality receiver he is going to be hurt all the time

I would rather have Heywerd-Bey or Maclin but they will more than likely be taken by our pick.
