Shanahan out in Denver

Nice slanted way to look at things. In 10 years shanahan had 6 winning seasons, 2 8-8 seasons and only 2 losing seasons. What the hell is wrong with that? He didn't have a great QB.

That's a pretty good record considering we are eliminating 3 of his best seasons and 2 super bowl wins.

 

During a 37 game stretch our record as a football team was 9-28. Only a moron would be happy with that.

I think this changes the game for Schwartz... they are a defense away from being a decent team. Fish and Shanahan are like BFFs, so I'm guessing there's probably some good ties to the Devner FO - especially after getting Dinger from them. I'd give Schwartz about a 70% chance of landing in DEN now... They are probably the best team out there in need of a coach (the QB question in NY puts the Jets on shaky ground), and the thing they need most is a defense. They'll want him and he should want them.

 

I think that if some team hired Shanahan as the head coach (but without personnel control) and signed a DC like Gregg Williams, they'd be in pretty good shape.

The question is whether Shanahan (or Bill Cowher for that matter) would take a job without control over their players and assistant coaches.

 

I know sometimes you need to make a change just to make a change, but this wasn't a good move. He'll be successful somewhere else, and they won't find someone better unless Cowher comes out.

 

What happens to our Defense if Schwartz leaves?

you could say during the first six weeks of the season they weren't even competitive. they were losing by an average of 16 points a game.

after that they were losing by an average of 7.

they lost a couple games against the dolphins, chargers and broncos on last minutes drives.

that's called improvement.

 

so he was a good coach, then sucked, and now he's good again?



funny what some talent, or lack thereof, will do to a coach.
