I really don't understand the persistent homerism here for Vince Young.

I do not love KFC but he's more than adequate as a Mr good enough for now.Comparing his stats to Youngs over their last how many games is bizarre.

The last time we saw a decent game out of Young was against a very poor Chiefs team in wk15 last year. All season he was very inconsistent & struggled as a running QB trying to play like a pocket passer.

His hamstring injury was blamed but there were many times late in the season when he frustrated us by holding on to the ball when there were running opportunities available to him. The Colts gifted us a wk17 game in which Young is credited with starting but it was Collins who came in at the end & won the game.

When Collins is throwing the ball I don't have to take immodium like I did when Vince was dropping back to pass.I see a huge difference in their play & sadly I know we were winning in spite of Young last season not because of him.

As much as anyone I'd love to see the 2006 Vince Young back on the field & improving as a passer. Yet it's impossible to ignore what happened in San Diego in the play offs & at home in wk 1 this year.

I would rather see him never play another down in football than see a young man fall apart mentally in the public spotlight again. His millions are no consolation to him when he is in the middle of a depression & anxiety attack. A person with such issues does not need to be in the spotlight if he is to get well & recover.

I do find it odd that he seems to be alone on the sidelines & away from where we percieve he should be.Considering what he went through though, maybe Fisher & the team are helping him the best way they can.

The fact that he's there & included in some way says that they haven't given up on him & I like that. I think the best thing for him is to see out the rest of this year away from the spotlight & see what happens in next years training camp.

Comparing their stats clouds the bigger picture. For me,Kerry Collins & Chris Simms playing are in the best interests of both the team & Vince Young right now.

This is one of the things that I think is a non-issue (Vince not going over plays). I honestly believe he is listening to music while he's swaying side to side on the sideline, and again, I think it's a non-issue. Whatever puts him in a better mood and a better state of mind can only be good. Hopefully, he's not slacking when it comes to film studies and going over plays in practice. That's what really counts. The way I see it, he's on the sideline listening to music, he's just unwinding, letting the pressure go. Hell, even Rocky had Eye of the Tiger.

Also, can't remember where I read it, but I did read somewhere that he's always been a bit of a loner on the sidelines. I don't know... As long as he can someday get his **** together on the field, I don't care what he's doing on the sideline.

That is all well and good but he is taking up cap space while he is doing that. It is about production and dollar value and we haven't seen much, if any, out of Vince since '06.

I was an ardent Vince supporter before drafting- but things are what they are. I echo Childress' statement that we won games in spite of Vince rather than because of him. He didn't run when he should have, and he through passes that he shouldn't have. And he demonstrated this year, that his critics might be right that he lacks the intelligence, mental fortitude and maturity to be a successful NFL QB.

Non issue to me. I think the depression and anxiety you bring up are completely uproven and unfounded. And if I were Vince, I would be upset that I lost my job to a panic attack the organization had to something that didn't require that kind of overeaction, and that the media and coach worked up in their head to be much bigger than it was. But that's just me. I think he's handled himself with class, because most players would ask to be traded after that. I know if it were me, I'd want outta there, because the team had lost it's senses, not me. If the team knew me better, and studied their Myers-Briggs, they'd give me some space and not put me on call 24-7, and a missed phone call would not be the end of the world.

I totally agree with every bit of that. I'm simply talking about his demeanor on the sideline.

Why do we care if he's listening to music, or not going over plays??? Why do you think they have jukeboxes in billiard halls??? You have to stay at least three shots ahead in billiards, and your mind becomes hammered **** after a few hours of that much concentration. If that is how he gets up for the game, I don't have a problem with it. I see him swaying side to side on the sideline, but I also see that he's paying attention to the game.

I don't think one shot of Collins, Dinger, and Simms together without Young is a big deal. However, I've noticed it several times through this season, and I don't think I've seen a shot of Vince working with any of those three during a game. On other teams, the backup QB calls in the plays. When Manning is out for some reason, he's the guy in the headset.

Maybe it won't matter, but it's a negative sign to me.

I love how in College FB, all the backup QBs are on the sideline signaling in the plays to the Starter. They look so "in Synch" with the game and gameplan. Great teaching tool. If you get a chance to watch Oregon, OKstate, TxTech, or Cal, these are great examples.

I watched the Recorded Game yesterday, and wanted to know when the camera's showed the QB's talking with the OC. I didn't much of KC, Chris or Vince on the sidelines.

I will re-watch the game later... but I initially I didn't notice any of the footage mentioned above. (And I was actually looking for it, due to the posts on this topic previously written.)

With the way Vince sucks at handling pressure, I wouldn't be surprised him faking another injury if called upon in fear of being the reason we lose our winning streak.
